Cowen Announces Formation of Information and Technology Services Banking Group

Cowen Group, Inc. (“Cowen”) (NASDAQ:COWN) today announced the formation of an information and technology services investment banking group and the appointment of Davies Beller and James Kissane as Managing Directors and Co-heads of the new group. Mr. Beller will be based in San Francisco, and Mr. Kissane will be based in New York. Messrs. Beller and Kissane will report to Kevin Raidy, Head of Investment Banking.

Mr. Beller has over 25 years of experience in investment banking, most recently as a Partner and senior investment banker at Stone Key Partners, where he managed the commercial technology advisory business. Previously, Mr. Beller was Head of Investment Banking at CSI Strategic Partners, a joint venture between Evercore Partners and CITIC Securities that focused on cross-border transactions between China and other international markets. Prior to that, Mr. Beller spent 11 years at Bear Stearns as a Senior Managing Director, leading several investment banking coverage areas including business services and marketing/communications and financial sponsors. He also was Chief Financial Officer of Pay by Touch, a biometric payment processing company. Mr. Beller holds an AB in Economics and Political Science from Dartmouth College, an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a JD from Stanford Law School. Mr. Beller is a member of the California Bar Association.

Prior to joining Cowen, Mr. Kissane was a Partner and senior investment banker at Stone Key Partners focused on the commercial technology sector. Before Stone Key, Mr. Kissane spent 24 years as an equity research analyst covering the computer, business and information services sectors at Credit Suisse, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns and Salomon Brothers. He was ranked by Institutional Investor over 20 times, and his work has also been recognized by Greenwich Associates, Bloomberg Markets, Reuters, TheStreet.com and The Wall Street Journal. He received a BS from the State University of New York at Albany and an MBA from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
