Top 5 cities where millennials are looking for jobs, according to LinkedIn (LNKD)

One in three American workers today are millennials. But where are millennials looking to work?

LinkedIn's Guy Berger has the answer. He started tracking the search behavior of millennials, which make up for 44% of all job searchers on the site. He discovered that millennials are looking to ditch big cities in favor of mid-sized cities. 

Specifically, over the past year, interest in mid-size cities has grown 25% faster than in larger cities. 

Take a look at which cities millennials are specifically looking to move to.

5. Charlotte, North CarolinaiStock

LinkedIn says it has 22,000 jobs in Charlotte. The most popular industries there are IT and services, computer software and the internet. 



4. Cleveland/Akron, OhioShutterstock

The Cleveland/Akron area in Ohio has 31,000 jobs on LinkedIn. The most popular industries are hospital and healthcare, IT and services, and insurance. 



3. Detroit, MichiganReuters/Rebecca Cook

LinkedIn says it has 40,000 jobs in Detroit. The most popular industries there are automotive, IT and services, and marketing and advertising.



2. Raleigh-Durham, North CarolinaShutterstock

North Carolina's second city on the list has 21,000 jobs on LinkedIn. The most popular industries there are computer software, IT and services, and pharmaceuticals.



1. Austin, TexasFlickr/Robert Hensley

The Texan city claims the No. 1 spot. LinkedIn says it has 23,000 jobs in the Raleigh/Durham area. The most popular industries there are IT and services, computer software and the internet.
