Our summer-like days will continue on Thursday, and we'll have a small risk for severe weather as well before the rain really ramps up for the weekend.



Days of rain ahead, minor flood risk after round of summer temperatures

I'm meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner, and today is the day that our pattern changes. Now it is still going to be hot and it's really warm and sticky as you're heading out for the first part of the day. You might run into a light shower or a sprinkle this morning, and then in the afternoon we'll have a better chance of some scattered storms. It could produce some wind damage. We do have a level one risk of severe weather from the triangle area northward and westward as our cold front approaches. That cold front will move in tomorrow and stall over us and continue our chance for rain. Our temperatures this morning are going to be in the low to mid 70s. It's really sticky, muggy out there, so it feels like summer, and we'll still see a hot afternoon at 92. We hit 95 yesterday, almost a record, only 1 degree from the record. Let's take a look at the tropics. It's very active. Uh, Gabrielle is moving actually toward Europe, so we're not going to worry too much about Gabrielle around here. But Humberto developed yesterday and the 80% chance, uh, system there could develop later on today or tomorrow, and its name. Would be Imelda. Let's take a look at the model plots for both of those together, and they start to move toward the United States and then potentially take a right turn, as we see a system that helps to kick them out to sea. Now, not to say that they won't bring us rain, even if the center of circulation makes that right turn. We have a 60% chance of rain on Friday, 80 Saturday, 70 Sunday, and it continues into next week. On WRALT this morning, we're going to talk more about how much rainfall we could see that number keeps on climbing.
