Facebook expands Watch to all U.S. users

The markets extended its gains during the midday with the Dow climbing 66 points to 21,958. Nasdaq soared 57 points to 6,425.


Facebook expanded its Watch video streaming service to all of its users in the U.S. today. Hundreds of shows from A&E Networks, Buzzfeed, Discovery Communications, Walt Disney's ABC, and Vox along with live sporting events will be available for streaming. Users will also be able to upload content to Watch.


Walt Disney will be eliminating jobs as part of its plan to trim its annual expenses by 10%. While no specific number or types of jobs have been identified, the cuts will come from Disney's ABC television unit. The first round of layoffs may be announced in September.


Wells Fargo revealed that an additional 1.4 million potentially fake accounts were created in a scandal that triggered record fines last year. The newly discovered unauthorized accounts brings the total now to 3.5 million fraudulent accounts. Wells Fargo has said that it will increase the amount of refunds and credits to customers by $2.8 million.


In the broad market, advancing issues outpaced decliners by a margin of nearly 3 to 1 on the NYSE and by more than 5 to 2 on Nasdaq. The broader S&P 500 gained 14 points to 2,472. Bitcoin leaped $186 to $4,755.
