A man was punched in the face and kicked in the head Saturday night outside of PNC Arena. Witnesses said the attack happened after the Carolina Hurricanes' 4-3 win against the New York Rangers in Game 4 of the second round of the NHL playoffs.

AT PNC ARENA LAST NIGHT. >> BUT AFTER THE GAME, THERE WAS A SITUATION THAT APPARENTLY GOT OUT OF HAND. A HURRICANES FAN WAS PUNCHED. DOWNSIDE. WE'RE WORKING TO CONFIRM IF A RANGERS FAN WAS INVOLVED. WRAL'S CARLY HEY, SHE HAS MORE TO SAY ABOUT IT. SHE TALKED TO A WOMAN WHO WITNESSED THE FIGHT AND CARLY, WHAT DOES SHE HAVE TO SAY? >> WELL, JULIAN, SHE ALONG WITH OTHER FANS, WERE LEAVING THE GAME RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THESE DOORS WHEN THEY SAW A CLUSTER OF PEOPLE AND A SCENE THAT LOOKED WAY DIFFERENT OUT HERE THAN IT DID IN SIGHT. WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A NIGHT OF CELEBRATION AFTER A BIG CANES WIN. >> UNTIL PNC TURNED I WENT FROM SO HAPPY AND THEN I SAW THAT. AND IT WAS JUST LIKE SHOCK. RAN THROUGH ME. CANES FAN KNOW, ANDERSON TOOK THIS VIDEO FRANTIC CROWDS AROUND THE MAN LYING UNCONSCIOUS. ANDERSON SAID HE WAS KNOCKED OUT FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. I WAS TALKING TO A FEW PEOPLE >> I HEARD THAT SOMEONE PUNCHED HIM AND THAT'S WHY HE WAS DOWN. AND THEN SOMEONE ELSE CAME IN AND WAS KICKING HIM IN THE HEAD BESIDE HIM. PEOPLE WORK TO HOLD BACK TO MET. I ASSUME THOSE 2 WERE THE ONES THAT. DID SOMETHING. AND THEY WERE RANGERS FANS. IT'S UNCLEAR WHAT CAME BEFORE OR WHO THREW THE PUNCH. THAT BROAD PNC ARENA FROM A FRENZY OF FANS. >> TO A FRENZY FOR HELP. THOSE OF THE TEAM'S FANS WERE VERY TENSE. AND SO IT WAS PROBABLY A FIGHT THAT JUST.
