These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations, and contributions to their communities. All Honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

Scot’s life is marked by a desire to shoot for the skies. Raised in Minnesota with traditional Midwest values, he was an active participant in school, sports, and his community. However, his greatest passion emerged at just 3 years old, when he saw Star Wars in the theater for the first time. That day, he knew he was destined to fly airplanes. This dream prompted a 25-year career in the Air Force, during which time he became a highly decorated, combat instructor pilot and culminated as the installation commander of Scott Air Force Base and the Vice Commander of 18th Air Force, serving roughly 36,000 personnel.

Throughout his career, Scot learned the importance of relatability and resiliency, and became a respected servant leader. In 2019, however, that resiliency would be tested beyond anything he had ever experienced when he was involved in a car accident. After an MRI of his head and neck following the injuries he sustained, doctors discovered he had a brain tumor.  The entire next year was spent in observation and assessment for further tumor growth and negative effects. In February 2020, his health took a turn for the worse, so he elected to go through a procedure to remove the tumor. After an eleven-hour surgery, most of the tumor was removed. Following 4-months of extensive therapy and healing, he returned to work, but had to undergo thirty rounds of radiation later that Fall, while still serving as the Base Commander. This experience taught him how impactful his own lessons could be in inspiring others and prompted a unique opportunity to elevate others who faced adversity. So, in 2022, he retired from the Air Force and set out to bring his own ideas of courage and a proven leadership style to help leaders better command themselves and their own cultures and organizations.

Today, Scot inspires CEO’s to front-line leaders to ‘command with courage’ so they can lead more effectively, drive a culture of innovation, and build a bigger bottom line. His Commander level coaching programs inspire his clients to lead with relatability and respect to embrace their vulnerability for positive change. Scot possesses master’s degrees in organizational leadership, Operational Planning & Strategy, and National Security & Strategic Studies, and is certified in emotional intelligence and executive coaching, designed to take leadership performance to the highest altitudes. He’s also the author of the upcoming book “Command With Courage” about resilience and elevating beyond adversity.

Mr. Heathman continues to serve his community and nation through service on the board for Soulcial Solutions Foundation, an organization designed to change the way people change the world. His work with the foundation has primarily focused on curbing the on-going challenges surrounding food insecurity across the United States. He also serves on the board of officers for the Airlift/Tanker Association ensuring American military forces continue to have the air mobility capability required to implement the U.S. national security strategy. Lastly, he’s a member at The Outlier Project, which is the leading private membership community created to develop business leaders who believe companies and individuals succeed or fail based on the quality of the teams they build and the relationships they invest in.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Heathman received numerous team and leadership awards, over 40 combat medals/ribbons and humanitarian awards, and been recognized worldwide for his accomplishments. This year he will be considered for a feature in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. He will be honored at IAOTP's annual awards gala at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville next December for his selection as Top Emotional Intelligence Consultant of the Year and Top Retired Colonel of the Year.

The President of the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP), Stephanie Cirami, stated: "Choosing Colonel Heathman for this honor was an easy decision for our panel to make. Scot is extremely inspirational, influential, and a true visionary and servant leader. We cannot wait to meet him and celebrate his accomplishments at next year's gala."

Looking back, Scot attributes his success to his faith, his family and the support of many friends and mentors throughout his career. Additional his perseverance, passion, work ethic, and resilience along the way paved a path of success and true fulfillment in his life. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, remaining curious and taking in all that life has to offer. His mission and passion are crystal clear…to elevate others by inspiring them to ‘Command With Courage.’
