Business Community Gears Up for Fifth Edition of Charity Run/Walk Supporting Water Safety Education for Borough Youth

RED BANK, N.J. - April 8, 2024 - PRLog -- Red Bank RiverCenter is pleased to announce that Alpha Fit Club has stepped up as the top sponsor for the fifth edition of the 5K community run and walk in downtown Red Bank on June 15.

This year's charity event, set to raise vital support for water safety education for borough third graders, will be named the Alpha Fit Club Red Bank Classic 5K.

"We are incredibly grateful to Alpha Fit Club for their generous support as the lead sponsor of this year's charity run and walk," said Bob Zuckerman, executive director of Red Bank RiverCenter. "Their commitment to our community's health and wellness aligns perfectly with the spirit of the Red Bank Classic."

Alpha Fit Club Operations Manager Megan Morrone said the fitness center "embraces the opportunity to contribute to such a well-established event that promotes both individual and community well-being."

Hosted by Red Bank RiverCenter in collaboration with a volunteer committee of local businesses, the summer event has become a cornerstone of the Red Bank community, drawing about 1,500 runners and walkers, an army of volunteers, and support from local businesses and sponsors, noted Anthony Setaro of Setaro House, a race founder now helping to produce the event.

"It's a great occasion to come together to celebrate health, showcase beautiful Red Bank, and to raise funds to help empower our youth and teens to lead healthy, active lives," Setaro said.

Since its inception in 2018, the charity walk/run has raised over $60,000 to support various programs aimed at promoting wellness and fitness among the borough's young residents. Proceeds from this year's event will help fund the Red Bank Family YMCA's Safety Around Water program, which provides free swim lessons and essential water safety education to third graders from Red Bank Primary School and Red Bank Charter School.

Runners and walkers of all ages and paces – and leashed dogs - are invited to this year's event, which will take place on iconic Broad Street in the heart of Red Bank.

It will feature a Fitness Fest in the Broadwalk area open to all that will include wellness activities and health resources from local businesses.

"The remarkable success of the Red Bank Classic is due in large part to the incredible support from our business community," said Angela Courtney, a race founder and owner of Sweetest Sin Boutique.

In addition to Alpha Fit Club, other top event sponsors are: Triumph Restaurant and Brewery, host of the pre-party on Thursday, June 13; the Robinson Ale House, host of the after-party on race day; the Boondocks Fishery; Raymond James, and the Businesses of Downtown Red Bank (former Red Bank Business Alliance).

Courtney said sponsorship opportunities ranging from $200 to $5,000 are still open. Many include branding opportunities, and to guarantee inclusion in print materials, sponsorships must be secured by April 20, she stressed.

The event committee also welcomes in-kind donations for runner swag bags and food and water donations for race participants.

The 5K will begin and end on the Broadwalk, stepping off at 8:30 a.m., after a group warm up by Alpha Fit. The challenging 3.1-mile course, certified by USA Track & Field, will wind through Red Bank neighborhoods.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three female and top three male finishers and to the top female and male masters' finishers. The top three finishers, ages 14 and under, and in five-year age groups up to 80 and older, will also be acknowledged, along with the top finishing teams.

The 5K race fee is $40 ($45 after June 1) and includes a T-shirt, medal, chip-timed results, refreshments, and access to post-event race activities. The first 1,000 runners and walkers to register and pick up their bib will receive a swag bag.

Following the 5K will be the Kids Broad Street Dash, open to children up to 12 years old. The fee is $20 ($25 after June 1) and includes a T-shirt and medal.

Race registration in only available online at https://www.raceforum.com/rbc.
