DESCRIPTION:

A student-designed roller coaster on display at Cleveland’s Great Lakes Science Center contains the same Rockwell Automation technologies used in the real thing.

University of Cincinnati engineering graduate Jared Holladay spent two years building “Project Infinity,” the 3D-printed working roller coaster, for his senior design project.

The 44-inch-tall model demonstrates the advanced safety features, data analytics, industrial controls, visualization, machine learning, and augmented reality that computer control systems bring to modern thrill rides. It’s on display through November to demonstrate how high-tech tools and processes power today’s roller coasters.
