What is the Battery Internal Resistance Tester?

A battery internal resistance tester is a specialized device designed to measure the internal resistance of a battery. Internal resistance refers to the opposition that a battery presents to the flow of current. It is an important indicator of a battery's condition, as higher internal resistance can lead to reduced performance, increased heat generation, and ultimately, a shorter lifespan.

A pocket-sized instrument that tells you how much a battery “fights” itself when current flows. That fight is called internal resistance (IR). The lower the IR, the easier the battery can deliver power; the higher the IR, the closer the battery is to retirement.

How it works

The tester hits the battery with a brief, small pulse (or AC signal), measures the tiny voltage sag, and divides volts by amps to give the resistance in milliohms. The whole job takes a second and does not stress the cell. Why you should care

  • Performance: A weak battery sags under load, so your drill, drone, or data-center UPS may cut out early.
  • Safety: Rising IR is an early warning of swelling, heat-runaway, or sudden failure.
  • Economics: Swap packs before they kill a job, but not while they still have months of life left.

Shopping checklist

  • Chemistry settings: lead, Li-ion, Ni-MH, LFP, etc.
  • Range and resolution: 0.01 mΩ is handy for single cells; 1 mΩ is fine for 12 V blocks.
  • Probe quality: four-wire (Kelvin) leads remove lead and contact error.
  • Data output: Bluetooth or USB-C logs if you trend batteries over months.
  • Size and power: shirt-pocket units run on two AAAs; bench models run on 12 V and can print labels.
  • This accumulator battery internal resistance tester utilized colour resistance touch screen. It can be operated via finger or the touch pen with convenience and flexibility. It is portable and the data can be known soon exactly. This instrument can store and process data of battery voltage and internal resistance. It will alarm for any battery failure. We can check data, download data and delete data on the instrument. Software in PC can display and .
  • In short, an IR tester is a stethoscope for batteries: quick, non-invasive, and a lot cheaper than a surprise shutdown.
