StarWin Brings Its Multi-Orbit Phased Array Terminal to Off-Grid Response Teams with MonkeyWin
MonkeyWin packages StarWin's hybrid-scan phased array terminal, compatible with GEO, MEO and LEO satellite networks, into portable and vehicle-mounted configurations for disaster response, overland convoys, expedition teams and vessels working beyond terrestrial coverage. The terminal locks on after one button press and keeps tracking while a vehicle or vessel is moving, addressing a coverage gap StarWin's market analysis puts at more than 80 percent of the Earth's surface.

CHENGDU, China - Aug. 24, 2026 - StarWin, an AI-driven compound solution provider spanning communication, navigation, remote sensing and computing, today introduced MonkeyWin, a self-pointing satellite terminal line built on its multi-orbit phased array platform. MonkeyWin extends a terminal class previously supplied mainly to industry operators like oil & gas, logistics & transportation, emergency recovery, broadcasting and defence into a one-button product for disaster responders, convoy operators and small-vessel crews working where fibre and terrestrial wireless do not reach.

MonkeyWin uses a hybrid-scan phased array design. It combines electronic beam steering with mechanical steering, which keeps the terminal compatible with GEO, MEO and LEO networks rather than a single constellation. The portable configuration is a flat panel carried in a rugged case and powered from a standard portable power station. It locks onto a satellite after one button press, with no manual alignment and no satellite technician required. The mobile configuration mounts the same panel on a motorised pan-and-tilt base fitted to a vehicle roof rack or a vessel deck. It tracks satellites automatically while the platform is moving.

"Most terminals in this category tie the customer to one operator's constellation the day they buy it, and that choice becomes a liability the moment coverage or pricing shifts underneath them," said James Li, board chairman of StarWin. "MonkeyWin carries our multi-orbit coordination approach, one terminal reaching GEO, MEO and LEO, into the form factors responders and expedition teams actually carry, so the operator decision stays with the customer instead of the hardware."

The gap MonkeyWin addresses is structural rather than seasonal. More than 80 percent of the Earth's surface and roughly 20 percent of the world's population fall outside fibre and terrestrial wireless coverage, according to StarWin's market analysis. That territory includes the deserts, mountain corridors, coastlines and disaster zones where cellular networks are either absent or the first infrastructure to fail. StarWin's product materials list fleet coordination, video backhaul, live streaming and emergency communication as the workloads the terminal carries once it is locked on. Satellite internet and satellite IoT together represent a potential annual output value above $500 billion, per the same analysis, with more than 100,000 satellites planned globally by 2030.

"A responder setting up after a landslide, or a crew tracking a satellite from a moving vehicle, cannot afford a terminal that needs a specialist to point it," said Liu Tao, chief executive officer of StarWin. "Holding an elevation scan angle to 90 degrees in a hybrid-scan array is what lets MonkeyWin lock on by itself and keep tracking while the vehicle or vessel is moving, rather than asking the operator to stop and aim."

MonkeyWin sits within StarWin's broader compound solution set. That set pairs broadband terminals, including electronically steered phased array and flat-panel COTP and COTM designs, with narrowband satellite IoT for asset tracking and telemetry. StarWin treats the two lines as complementary layers of one infrastructure rather than separate businesses, consistent with its stated goal of building the communications, navigation, measurement and computing signal layer beneath autonomous vehicles, UAVs, vessels and robotics. Model configurations, pricing and ordering details were not disclosed.

Diverse Applications

MonkeyWin's one-button lock-on suits operators who need connectivity without a satellite technician on site. Disaster response teams use it to establish fleet coordination and emergency communication within minutes of arriving on scene. Overland convoy operators and expedition teams rely on the mobile configuration to track satellites automatically while moving, keeping video backhaul and live streaming connected across mountain corridors and other coverage gaps. Small-vessel crews carry the portable configuration to stay connected off the coast where terrestrial wireless does not reach. The same terminal class also serves oil & gas, logistics & transportation, emergency recovery, broadcasting and defence operators who need multi-orbit coverage without committing to a single constellation. The same multi-orbit approach also reaches StarWin's satcom robot dog, a satellite terminal plus 5G base station on a quadruped platform for disaster relief.

About StarWin

StarWin is a manufacturer of multi-orbit Ku and Ka band phased array satellite terminals, and an AI-driven compound solution provider across communication, navigation, remote sensing and computing. Its broadband terminal range and its narrowband satellite IoT range are equally core, and 3GPP-NTN is the standard both are built to. The company holds more than 200 independent intellectual property rights, is certified by dozens of global satellite operators, and carries FCC, CE, RCM and ANATEL approvals. Tens of thousands of StarWin terminals and antennas are deployed worldwide.
