SMART Modular Technologies to Present at SNIA Persistent Memory + Computational Storage Summit

Annual Summit features keynotes, panel sessions, and presentations on leading-edge memory and storage technologies

SMART Modular Technologies, Inc. (“SMART”), a division of SGH (Nasdaq: SGH) and a global leader in memory solutions, solid-state drives, and hybrid storage announces that Arthur Sainio, director of DRAM product marketing at SMART, and Pekon Gupta, solutions architect at SMART, will be presenting at this year’s SNIA Persistent Memory + Computational Storage Summit on May 24 and 25, 2022.

The annual event, put on by SNIA, the Storage Networking Industry Association, will be virtual this year and will feature sessions on persistent memory and computational storage. SMART will be presenting at two keynote sessions highlighting their memory solutions expertise and latest offerings.

Both presentations will address issues and solutions that are on the forefront of today’s memory and storage discussions and popular among current technology trends.

The first presentation “Scaling NVDIMM-N Architecture for System Acceleration in DDR5 and CXL Enabled Applications” will be co-presented by Sainio and Gupta on Tuesday, May 24.

“SMART’s CXL device and Kestral AIC have received a lot of interest lately,” states Sainio. “CXL technology is quickly gaining traction in the industry, and as one of the first developers of a go-to-market CXL module, our session at SNIA provides an opportunity to share our experience designing such a device.”

CXL technology is an industry-supported, cache-coherent interconnect for processors, memory expansion and accelerators -- and is quickly gaining traction as an interface of choice for memory expansion that is supported by all major CPU manufacturers.

The second presentation “Computational Memory: Moving Compute Near Data with Kestral” will take place on Wednesday, May 25, and will be presented by Gupta. In his presentation, he will describe how offloading static functions to memory devices reduces the copy and discard approach. He will also share how this process improves efficiency and performance by distributing compute between CPU and hardware accelerators.
