Transact IDX® Adds Mobile Credentials to Apple and Google Wallets, Alongside Additional Features

No new apps needed--easier for students to use, easier for colleges to manage

Transact + CBORD today announced a major update to Transact IDX®, its cloud-based campus transaction and credential system. Students can now add their campus ID directly to Apple and Google Wallets—eliminating the need for a separate app to access dorms, dining halls, libraries, and other services. This update also includes a variety of new Transact IDX® features for schools and students.

For colleges and universities, this wallet integration delivers stronger security with the tools students already use, reduces IT support demands, and speeds student adoption—helping campuses achieve faster ROI and smoother rollouts.

Transact IDX® helps schools simplify operations and improve the student experience. The platform connects housing, dining, retail, and security services through a secure, mobile-first design trusted by schools in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.

"With 79% of Gen Z already using digital wallets, putting campus IDs where students naturally reach—their Apple or Google Wallet—just makes sense," said Rasheed Behrooznia, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Campus ID and Commerce Solutions at Transact. "It's the difference between asking students to adapt to campus technology versus campus technology adapting to them."

Additional Enhancements in This Update

Beyond the Apple and Google Wallet integration, this release adds improvements designed to reduce administrative overhead, improve campus services, and give students a better experience:

  • One Place for Students to Access Balances, Deposits, and Credentials: The Transact eAccounts mobile app now works with Transact IDX®, allowing students to check balances, make deposits, provision credentials, and report lost cards—all in one place.
  • More Partners, More Options: Transact IDX® now connects with more than 125 certified technology partners, with new certifications including Aramark Oracle Micros systems. A new Purchaser Info API helps partners display student photos and receipts at checkout, and robot-delivered food services are already live at universities like Oregon State—demonstrating how Transact IDX® powers real-world innovation on campus.
  • Less Manual Work for Staff: Schools can now automate ACH settlement for off-campus programs and vending, schedule broader transaction data exports, and use new tools like one-click photo syncs and improved transaction filters.
  • Easier Meal Plan Setup: Simplified setup and enhanced period management tools make it easier to configure and copy meal plan settings across days and terms.

“IDX was built to make life easier for both students and staff,” said Taran Lent, senior vice president of Product Strategy at Transact. “What excites me most about this release is how it frees up campus teams—from automating routine tasks to delivering clearer data—so they can spend more time improving the student experience rather than troubleshooting systems. That shift changes technology from a burden into an enabler.”

Today, Transact IDX® is already supporting millions of cardholders and processing millions of transactions with 100% uptime, underscoring its reliability and market leadership. The update is available now to all Transact and CBORD higher education clients, who can leverage these enhancements without additional hardware investments or complex migrations. Regular updates will add features like AI assistance, advanced reporting, guest deposits, and entitlement tools (features that help schools manage which students are eligible for specific services).
