Founder Sean Xiao was fine-tuning a machine learning algorithm when he stumbled upon a research note by AI pioneer Geoffrey Hinton — a descendant of mathematician George Boole, the father of modern logic.

A single line struck him deeply: “The artificial intelligence of life — the Boole family’s mathematical romance across two centuries.”

Most would have read and moved on. Xiao booked a flight to Ireland.

In the University College Cork Archives, he found Boole’s original manuscripts — equations that built the foundation of modern computing, scribbled alongside grocery lists and family budgets.

It was a revelation:“The greatest algorithms,” Xiao recalls, “aren’t cold formulas. They are humanity’s endless attempts to make life better.”

That moment became the philosophical seed of Boolean Cloud — a belief that true innovation doesn’t emerge in laboratories alone, but in real life.

Turning Empathy into Engineering: Designing from Real Homes

Returning to China, Xiao made an unusual decision for a tech founder — he sent his engineers out of the lab and into real households.

After visiting thousands of homes across cities and villages, one truth stood out:

Regardless of income or geography, families shared the same frustration — especially pet owners, for whom fur, odour, and constant cleaning disrupted the joy of home life.

“99% Isn’t Enough”: The Engineering of No Compromise

In 2022, Boolean Cloud’s R&D team achieved a breakthrough — a proprietary motor system delivering 20,000Pa suction power, effortlessly deep-cleaning carpets covered in golden retriever hair.

The results seemed flawless, until hours later, engineers discovered a problem:

Hair clogged the dust duct, making cleaning maintenance cumbersome.

Some suggested proceeding anyway — after all, it still outperformed competitors.

Xiao refused.

“We don’t build 99% solutions,” he said.“Technology must never compromise on the problems it promises to solve.”

Production was halted, despite millions of dollars already invested.

Months of redesign followed — until the world’s first detachable brush chamber and an enhanced 25,000Pa suction system emerged, enabling the robot to clean both the floor and itself with unmatched efficiency.

Beyond Innovation: The Guardian Paws Initiative

Each evening after work, Xiao would feed the stray cats and dogs wandering near the company’s office.
