Long Island Ransomware Risk Assessment & Attack Simulation: Cybersecurity Update

An Ocean Township cybersecurity firm (646 560-5083) now provides ransomware attack simulations to help SMBs protect their systems against cyberattacks.

As Sophos reveals that 37% of small businesses suffered a ransomware attack in 2021, 2Secure Corp introduces a Malware Attack Simulation (MAS) service for small to medium-sized businesses across Long Island, New York, and New Jersey.

“Ransomware is an especially malicious form of cyberattack, which locks data with a virtual key that will only be supplied to the owner after payment of a ransom,” explained a 2Secure representative. “Obviously this can be a very costly problem,” they added. The firm developed its new service in response to the growing number of ransomware attacks and the high costs of recovery.

In the 2021 report, Sophos estimated that the average cost of recovering from a ransomware attack was $1.85 million – which, according to another study, is not financially feasible for 83% of small to medium-sized businesses. With all that in mind, Sophos recommended a number of best practices, including hiring a cybersecurity company, which can conduct risk assessments, ransomware attack simulations, and improve cybersecurity systems.

2Secure, which specializes in cybersecurity solutions for small businesses, can perform Malware Attack Simulation (MAS) – a benign form of a ransomware attack – which breaches security measures and encrypts data. Through this proof of concept model, the firm can identify vulnerabilities and take appropriate measures to remedy gaps in security.

As part of the new service, 2Secure implements security measures to protect small businesses from all types of ransomware attacks, including Phobos – one of the most common ransomware programs.

Along with ransomware attack simulations, 2Secure Corp provides penetration testing, internal and external vulnerability assessments, and regulatory compliance services for FTC Safeguards Rule and NYDFS 23 NYCRR 500.
