12 Reminders When Packing for Plastic Surgery

We often get asked by future patients what items they need to pack for their plastic surgery recovery. Here are 12 helpful reminders when packing your bag for the big day to make your process as easy as possible. In addition to taking care of physical needs like medications and identification, this list will prepare you mentally for what’s ahead.

Check out our list of must-haves that other patients have raved about.

The Essentials

We compiled a list of 12 items to remember to pack. These items will make a difference when recovering. Notably, here are twelve things to remember to not leave home without:

1. Wallet with ID, health insurance card, small cash for vending machines, etc. Suppose you are in the United States and its territories. In that case, it is best to travel with your state-issued identification card: replacing a driver’s license is more accessible than replacing your passport.

2. Prescription medications in their original packaging.

3. Mobile phone with charger (You´ll like to connect with family, check in on friends, or take a break from it all).

4. A dressing gown or robe (something mid-length with pockets is excellent)

5. Cotton camisole to wear with your body faja.

6. Slippers or socks with grip.

7. Glasses/contact lenses if you need them.

8. Underwear: remember the oh-so-important undies! Make sure to throw in extra pairs of underwear.

9. Hair ties (Everyone needs them but never seems to have a spare one).

10.  Sunglasses (After surgery, your face may swell, and you may not want to look at strangers while recovering).

11.  Your favorite tea bags (Peppermint and Passion may not be typical flavors on the menu).

12.  Travel-size toiletries (wet wipes, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.) and skincare essentials (face wash, moisturizer, lip balm). Bring sunscreen lotion: remember you are heading to the sunshine state.

You want to remember to pack LIGHT! Postoperative, unless traveling with a companion, you will be responsible for carrying your luggage.

An extra tip: What NOT to bring?

Things to remember to leave at home:

1. Expensive electronics

2. Jewelry

3. Cash

4. Social security card

5. Passport

6. Expensive purses

It’s important to remember that plastic surgery can be life-changing. Following these 12 reminders when packing for the procedure can make the process even more exciting by ensuring you are comfortable and prepared for the operation.
