Attorneys Edgar Bueno and Matt Wilmot Join HunterMaclean

SAVANNAH, Ga. – HunterMaclean, a leading business law firm with offices in Savannah and St. Simons Island, recently welcomed Edgar Bueno and Matt Wilmot as partners in the firm’s health care and litigation group.

Edgar Bueno focuses on representing businesses and individuals in health care fraud investigations, False Claims Act matters, reimbursement audits, and complex commercial litigation. With a wealth of experience handling state and federal False Claims Act matters, Edgar also represents clients in civil, criminal, and grand jury investigations, aiming for dismissals or favorable outcomes before an indictment or charges are filed.

As a former Assistant U.S. Attorney and Chief of the Civil Division for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia, Edgar also supervised aspects of federal court litigation in a number of high-profile cases, achieving an unprecedented number of FCA actions and recoveries for the United States.

He has also served as an instructor at the Department of Justice training center (NAC) and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), where he received several recognitions from the Office of the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for his exceptional work combating health care fraud.

Matt Wilmot specializes in regulatory and compliance matters, including institutional compliance, fraud and abuse prevention, HIPAA regulations, EMTALA, the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law, licensure and accreditation, and physician contracting. Matt represents clients in the health care industry during mergers and acquisitions, providing guidance through the unique considerations of these transactions. Additionally, he offers general counsel services, managing daily legal issues, contracting needs, medical staff matters, and corporate governance for health care clients.

With significant experience in regulatory compliance and white-collar litigation, Matt has conducted government and internal investigations for clients in health care, finance, education, and other regulated sectors. He previously served as the sole in-house counsel for a hospital system with over 700 patient beds and practiced at Am Law 100 and 200 law firms specializing in health care regulatory and compliance matters and government investigations.

The addition of Edgar and Matt expands HunterMaclean’s Health Care practice to include:
