AKCP Supports MQTT on sensorProbe+ platforms

By: PRLog

AKCP, the world's oldest and largest supplier of networked wired and wireless sensor solutions, has added MQTT support to the sensorProbe+ product line.

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Aug. 12, 2021 - PRLog -- MQTT has become a standard for IoT messaging communications. AKCP has long supported SNMP as the de facto protocol for communicating sensor data to NMS platforms. The advent of IoT and cloud-based solutions has introduced new communication protocols to the industry. To remain at the forefront of the networked sensor monitoring industry AKCP has implemented MQTT support on the sensorProbe+ product line.

MQTT is a lightweight, low bandwidth messaging transport protocol that has a small code footprint. It is a publish-subscribe-based communication system allowing cloud-based IoT services to communicate with remote devices. Originally developed for the oil and gas industry for SCADA systems to monitor oil pipelines. It has since been adopted by many other industries.

The MQTT system works with MQTT clients, such as the sensorProbe+ devices, sending messages, in this case, sensor data, to an MQTT server known as the messaging broker. The MQTT broker behaves as a central exchange where it routes the messages to their proper destination based on the topic of the message. The system can easily scale to thousands of connected devices and is ideally suited to cellular and satellite communications where bandwidth and reduction of network

AKCP sensorProbe+ devices are available with integrated 4G cellular data modems and can connect via MQTT to third-party MQTT brokers, or communicate via MQTT directly to their own central monitoring platform AKCPro Server. Connect thousands of AKCP sensors to IoT cloud services through MQTT.

The current MQTT implementation on SP+ and WTG supports sending sensor values and status changes, up to 4 configured MQTT servers with authentication.

AKCP wired and Wireless Tunnel monitoring system is available now. Contact sales@akcp.com for more details.

AKCP established in the USA in 1981, has 30+ years experience in professional sensor solutions. AKCP created the market for networked temperature, environmental and power monitoring in the data center.
