AKCP, the world's oldest and largest supplier of networked wired and wireless sensor solutions provides sensor monitoring for Host-IT data centers.
MILTON KEYNES, U.K. - Aug. 31, 2021 - PRLog -- Host-IT UK is a data center owner and operator offering co-location and web hosting services. Their ISO 27001 certified data centers are designed with cold aisle containment and redundant power. They have 3 locations in the UK, Milton Keynes, Bletchley, and Northampton.
With such an operation it is important that the data center's environmental conditions are monitored 24/7. This ensures that the client's equipment that is entrusted to the co-location facility is properly protected from excessive heat. It also aids in lowering the operational expense of the data center by checking for areas that are being over-cooled.
AKCP sensor monitoring solutions were deployed at the three locations and integrated into the DCIM central monitoring software via SNMP. Temperature and humidity sensors are installed to monitor the temperatures in the cold aisles and other key areas in the facility. Additional battery terminal temperature sensors are installed on the UPS batteries.
Another area of concern in the data center is potential leaks from the HVAC system. As data centers primarily utilize chilled water cooling systems, leaks can be catastrophic. Not only in terms of the water damage but downtime and lost cooling capacity. AKCP rope water sensors are installed in strategic locations to monitor for potential leaks from the air conditioning system.
Dry contact sensors provide alarm inputs to the AKCP monitoring devices. Internal systems such as the Fire Detection and Prevention System (FDAS) are interfaced through dry contacts for centralized monitoring.
