By: PRLog

PRINCETON, N.J. - May 27, 2022 - PRLog -- Morven Museum & Garden will be hosting a commemoration in celebration of the 100 year anniversary of the unveiling and dedication of the Princeton Battle Monument on Thurs, June 9 at 11 a.m. Present and speaking at this event will be Morven's Board Chair Liza Morehouse, Morven's Executive Director Jill Barry, Princeton Mayor Mark Freda, Princeton Battlefield Society President Mike Russell, President of the Sons of the Revolution in the State of New Jersey Ben Strong, and more.

Guest presenters will then walk to Morven's front porch for a photo opportunity, recreating the image taken in 1922 during the celebratory luncheon following the original dedication where President Harding was in attendance.  Light refreshments will be served in Morven's courtyard.

Additionally, the flag that was used to unveil the monument, and hasn't been viewed for 100 years, will be on display at Morven's Stockton Education Center for two days only on Weds, June 8 and Thurs, June 9 during Museum hours. On loan from the Historical Society of Princeton, the flag is 10 feet by 19 feet, and was originally donated by Bayard Stockton, Morven resident and key member of the Princeton Battlefield Society. Also on view will be a historic slide show about how the monument came to be, as well as special ephemera provided by the Historical Society of Princeton in the Museum. Visitors can view the flag with the purchase of Museum admission, free for Morven members.

Morven Museum & Garden, 55 Stockton St, Princeton, NJ is open Weds through Sun from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
