Ashlee's Toy Closet, Inc. is a 501c(3) nonprofit based in Reno, Nevada, and was founded by then-8-year-old Ashlee Smith after experiencing the loss of her toys in a house fire. Her dad, a firefighter, was on the Angora Fire in Lake Tahoe and sent her a photo it showed a burned home, but Ashlee only noticed the burned toys. Ashlee told her mom she had to help because she knew exactly how the kids felt. This sparks Ashlee's Toy Closet and for the past 15 years, she and her organization have collected & donated over 5 million toys worldwide. The organization is dedicated to replacing smiles, security & outlook with a simple toy.
