Alfa Chemistry Newly Releases Phospholipids, Modified Lipids, and Functionalized Lipids

New York, USA - January 5, 2023 - Lipids are essential to many body functions and serve as the building blocks for living cells. Phospholipids

As the major component of the cellular membrane, phospholipids are known for their excellent biocompatibility and amphiphilicity. Meanwhile, this amphiphilicity endows phospholipid molecules with self-assembling, emulsifying, and wetting characteristics, further consolidating the role of phospholipids in many applications, such as in the pharmaceutical industry. Modified Lipids

Functionalized Lipids

Bioactive lipids are a chemically heterogeneous group of lipids recognized as key mediators of cell growth, adhesion, migration, signaling, and death. Based on the different biochemical functions, bioactive lipids can be divided into four major families: classical eicosanoids, endocannabinoids (eCBs), lysophospholipids/sphingolipids, and specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators (SPMs). Bioactive lipids are consistently involved in chronic inflammation for pathological characterization, such as cancer, diabetes, atherosclerosis, asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, as well as autoimmune and neurodegenerative disorders.
