One Year Since the Invasion of Ukraine, CAF America Recognizes $37 Million in Grants to Affected Populations

By: PRLog

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Feb. 21, 2023 - PRLog -- As the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine approaches, CAF America recognizes the commitment of their donors to humanitarian relief stemming from this conflict. Since the beginning of the invasion, CAF America has made over $37 million in donor-advised and restricted grants; their donors have funded 998 grants to 78 charities in 14 countries. This includes over $3.75 million in grants to charities incorporated in Ukraine itself.

Key trends in CAF America's grants data include:

  • Poland emerged as a hub for humanitarian action to help Ukrainians in need. CAF America has granted over $10 million to 22 organizations incorporated in Poland since the beginning of the invasion (26% of total response grants). Poland is the largest beneficiary of CAF America's cross-border grants for countries responding to the invasion. Key humanitarian partners in the country, who have each received over $1 million in grant funding from CAF America, include:
    • Polish Humanitarian Action
    • Polish Center for International Aid Foundation
    • Polsko UkraiƄski Instytut Pomocy i Rozwoju (Polish-Ukrainian Institute for Aid and Development)
    • Polish Red Cross
  • Charities in other countries bordering Ukraine also provided substantial assistance to those in need: grantees in Bulgaria, Czechia, Austria, Romania, and Hungary received a total of $2,042,890 in the past year for supporting response and humanitarian efforts.
  • Beyond response to the invasion and assistance for those displaced or physically injured, Ukrainian civil society continued to thrive in the face of extreme disruption. While most of the programs funded within Ukraine have adapted to help those affected by the invasion, many continued to provide valuable social support services, which are needed more than ever before.
This is just one brief snapshot of the powerful work funded by CAF America donors, whose contributions helped local organizations fund their essential programming, ensuring that Ukrainians continue to receive the vital support they need.
