Silver Springs, MD, USA - March 9, 2023 - International recording artist Layla Khepri upper her acting game starring in her first horror short, "Screaming", written and produced by Mosley. The 10 minute short is an homage to the famous Scream series, which debuted in 1996. The short can be seen on YouTube and has already amassed over 24,000 views in the first few weeks.
In this modernized version Layla Khepri plays Jada, a young woman living in a college town. She's alone hosting a virtual book club discussing "God Damn Zombie Chainsaw Murderer" by Sean M. Thompson when a late comer hops on the call as it's ending. He and Jada make pleasant small talk sharing their affinity for the macabre when the discussion takes a turn.
Layla has been busy in the film world. She recently starred in the critically acclaimed film, "Bundles" which aired on BET Her. She is producing two up coming reality shows, producing and starring in feature film, SEEDS scheduled to shoot this summer, and starred in a new web series, "Night School" with popular influencer Casey Lawrence. But her role in "Screaming" was her first in the horror genre.
"I was excited when Mosley considered me for the role. "Scream" is such a cult classic and the opening was always a great prelude to what the viewer could expect from Ghostface throughout the film," says Layla. "The fact that we were solely focusing on the intro made me want to do a backflip crash into a table to commemorate the moment."
Screaming was directed by Ryan Jordan, Executive Produced by Deanna Nowell, and Co-Produced by Pattrick Tennerson and Chad Oliver.
