By: PRLog

Educators, scientists gathering for Colloquium July 4 in Baltimore

HURST, Texas - May 12, 2023 - PRLog -- Esteemed educators, authors, and scientists will explore the neurodiversity movement and gain a deeper appreciation for the complexity of the human experience July 4 at the Mensa Foundation's 2023 Colloquium, Giftedness Across the Lifespan: The Talent and Potential of Neurodiversity. Attendees can participate in person at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor in Baltimore or via livestream.

This event is open to the public (registration information) and to press coverage. The distinguished panel of presenters includes:

Don Ambrose, Ph.D., Educator and Editor, is professor emeritus of graduate studies at Rider University and editor of the Roeper Review, an international research journal serving the fields of gifted education and creativity studies. He serves on the editorial boards of major journals in creative intelligence fields and for several book series. He views this scholarship as a way to generate positive change and dialogue among disciplines that otherwise operate in silos.

Thomas Armstrong, Ph.D., Author and Teacher, is an award-winning author and speaker with more than 30 years of teaching experience from the primary through the doctoral level and more than 1 million copies of his books in print on issues related to learning and human development.

Lawrence Fung, M.D., Ph.D., Scientist and Psychiatrist, is the director of the Stanford Neurodiversity Project, which strives to uncover the strengths of neurodiverse individuals and utilize their talents to increase innovation and productivity of the society as a whole. He directs the Neurodiverse Student Support Program, Neurodiversity at Work Program, and Neurodiversity Clinic at Stanford.

Shawn Anthony Robinson, Ph.D., Social Entrepreneur, is a co-founder of the award-winning graphic novel Doctor Dyslexia Dude and serves on the advisory council of Benetech. His research focuses on the intersection of race, giftedness, and dyslexia. Dr. Robinson brings a wealth of academic experience, training, and knowledge about the psychological development of dyslexia.

The Mensa Education and Research Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity focused on understanding and empowering intelligence and giftedness in society at large. While associated with the high-IQ society American Mensa, the Foundation is its own separate entity. Its first Colloquium was held in October 1982, and the purpose of the event remains the same today as it was four decades ago: to offer a forum for individuals interested in exploring, debating, evaluating, and offering judgment on major issues of long-range importance to society.

The Mensa Foundation is committed to creating a community of individuals who share a passion for lifelong learning, curiosity, and making a positive impact in the world. Governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees, the Foundation is funded by philanthropic support from people from all walks of life. Learn more at MensaFoundation.org.
