Military Wife Teaches Others How To Become Successful Entrepreneurs

By: PRLog

SAN DIEGO - Aug. 1, 2023 - PRLog -- When Dylan Jahraus moved to San Diego with her husband, an Executive Submarine Officer in the US Navy, she spent over a year seeking employment. Even though she had experience as an executive at major retail companies such as Zappos and Zulily, finding a job proved difficult.

"Military families have to keep moving every six months, year, or two years. The spouses end up either not getting work, being underemployed, or have to start their career over again," she said.

Actually, while most Americans spend their summers visiting relatives or traveling, military families refer to the summer as relocating months or Permanent Change of Station (PCS). Moving frequently affects families not only on a social level but financially as well. According to the latest Military Family Lifestyle Survey conducted by Blue Star Families, a nonprofit organization that advocates for the military community, thirty-five percent of military spouses are unemployed, but want employment. Further, one in seven military families reported food insecurity.

The situation is so severe that in June 2023, President Biden signed a new Executive Order to boost military spouse employment. The order includes increasing the number of federal jobs and mandating a plan to help find work for spouses whose careers have been derailed by military moves and demands.

Jahraus believes one way to overcome this hardship that military spouses endure is to become self-employed in a space where relocating would not adversely impact the business. With hard work and lessons learned, she's been able to earn over $1.5 million dollars in sales over the past six years.

After being asked repeatedly for advice on how to make a sustainable income as a housewife and a mother of two, she started coaching other military wives on how to start and grow their own business.

Within months of launching her training program, Dylan taught more than 1200 military wives and other aspiring entrepreneurs how to start and grow a business.

"Typically, our students are trying to make it big. My students want to replace their jobs, or make money to invest in real estate or another major investment."

Dylan says she is dedicated to their success and works very hard to help her students, who can either take a self-study course or work more closely with her with daily coaching. She cites one student who grew from selling $696 to over $4,000 in six weeks.

"We're not just providing our students with the knowledge of how to run a business, we're providing peace of mind. We're helping them build a business that will enable them to support their family if their partner loses their job - or is required to move from one city to another."
