About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

UNPLANNED GOOD INC. JOINS AMICUS BRIEF BEFORE THE UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT

AFFIRMING FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS OF FIRST CHOICE WOMEN'S RESOURCE CENTER

BOISE, ID, October 01, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Unplanned Good, the nation's leading advocate for voluntary open adoption as an option for women facing unplanned pregnancy, today announced that the organization joined the filing of an important brief with the United States Supreme Court in the case of First Choice v Platkin.

At issue in First Choice v Platkin: Organizations whose ability to effectively pursue their chosen goals require free association with others without fear of reprisal. The 'friend of the court' brief provides perspective on the harm suffered when donor and volunteer information is demanded.

The First Amendment protects individuals' ability to collectively pursue common goals. Government-compelled disclosure of membership lists and donor information chills associational rights. The New Jersey Attorney General's demand indirectly serves as speech regulation. Groups targeted for unlawful compelled disclosure have viable First Amendment claims that can, and should, be adjudicated in federal court. The brief urges the Supreme Court to protect this fundamental right and reinstate it as the cornerstone of the First Amendment. Here's a link to the Supreme Court case: https://www.supremecourt.gov/search.aspx?filename=/docket/docketfiles/html/public/24-781.html

Unplanned Good joins the brief authored by the Manhattan Institute, Religious Freedom Institute, and the Coalition of Virtue. Other Amici Curiae supporting the Petitioner, First Choice, include The Justice Foundation, Heartbeat International, Care Net, the State of Idaho and 18 other States, the Christian Legal Society, Save the Storks, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Pacific Legal Foundation.

Importantly, Unplanned Good informed the Supreme Court about its mission and interest in supporting birth mothers, advancing adoption through its advocacy. Below is an excerpt from the Brief explaining its interest in this case.

From the brief: Unplanned Good is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting adoption as a viable choice for women facing an unplanned pregnancy. The organization's mission includes advocacy to support prospective birth mothers through public policy that educates students on the option of voluntary open adoptions and government funding of critical birth mother needs, both during pregnancy and after placement of an infant with an adoptive family. Unplanned Good directs its advocacy to a variety of pro-choice and pro-life audiences. The sensitive and often divisive nature of these issues demand confidence and confidentiality of Unplanned Good's donor base.

Unplanned Good is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, non-political, non-religious organization devoted to promoting adoption as an alternative path for unplanned pregnancies, and caring for the women who choose adoption.
