About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Real Estate Expert Iris Ramos Shares Insights and Success Stories on the Agents Lounge Podcast

The Agents Lounge Podcast is back with an exciting new episode featuring real estate expert Iris Ramos. As the owner of Keller Williams Heritage in San Antonio and with 10 years of experience as a realtor, Ramos brings a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to the table. Listeners can expect to hear her inspiring story, background, and journey in the industry.

In this episode, host Marco Salinas dives deep into Ramos’ journey to becoming a realtor. Before entering the real estate world, Ramos served in the Air Force. However, a personal tragedy led her back home to San Antonio, where she made the life-altering decision to stay and build a career in real estate. Ramos shares, “Real estate changed my life, and I never looked back.”

When asked about the challenges she faced when starting her real estate career, Ramos recalls feeling unprepared after her first home-buying experience. This sparked her desire to provide more guidance and knowledge to her clients. She explains, “I felt like there could have been a little bit more knowledge, so that’s really where it came from. I did not research real estate. I just went for it and took a leap of faith.”

Throughout the episode, Ramos also discusses her expertise in serving the military community. With her background in the Air Force, she understands the unique needs and challenges faced by military personnel. From meeting tight deadlines to guiding clients through remote buying processes, Ramos ensures a smooth and stress-free experience for military families. She states, “I understand the lingo. I understand the structure. I can mirror their behavior. It does help me. I am certified for it.”

As the conversation progresses, Ramos shares a heartwarming success story, highlighting her dedication to her clients. She recalls a challenging deal involving a couple who wanted to buy a home but faced obstacles due to being self-employed. Undeterred, Ramos went above and beyond to find a solution, connecting her clients with a bank that offered a portfolio loan. The couple not only purchased their dream home but also sold it years later at a substantial profit. Ramos says, “I’m a 100% referral-based realtor, and they’re super sweet clients.”

With the real estate market constantly evolving, Ramos discusses the recent changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. She addresses the shift in market dynamics and offers valuable insights for potential investors. Ramos advises, “Networking and finding people who have a problem you can solve is key. You just need to let people know you buy houses.”

The Agents Lounge Podcast episode featuring Iris Ramos is a must-listen for anyone looking to gain valuable real estate knowledge and hear inspiring success stories. Listeners will walk away with a deeper understanding of the industry and practical tips for navigating the market.
