Renesas Announces Change in Executive Personnel Following Dialog Integration

As announced in the press release titled “Renesas Completes Acquisition of Dialog Semiconductor” issued on August 31, 2021, Renesas’ acquisition of the entire issued and to be issued share capital of Dialog Semiconductor Plc (“Dialog”) is now complete. Following this move, Renesas Electronics Corporation (TSE: 6723) today announced the following changes in its executive officers and re-assignment of automotive solution business functions effective October 1, 2021, to take advantage of the synergies resulting from the combination of Renesas’ and Dialog’s strengths.

1. Outline of the Change in Executive Officers

[Retiring Executive Officer]

Tomomitsu Maoka is retiring as Senior Vice President, Deputy General Manager of Automotive Solution Business Unit as of September 30, 2021.

[New Executive Officer]

Upon the completion of the Dialog acquisition, Vivek Bhan has joined Renesas’ leadership team as Senior Vice President effective August 31, 2021. Formerly as Dialog’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, Vivek led the Custom Mixed Signal (CMS). He will continue to be responsible for the CMS business as a member of Renesas’ IoT and Infrastructure Business Unit.

Subsequent to the retirement of Tomomitsu Maoka, Vivek will then assume the new role of Senior Vice President & Deputy General Manager of Automotive Solution Business Unit effective October 1, 2021, replacing Tomomitsu Maoka. Vivek and Tomomitsu will work together during September to ensure a smooth transition.

2. Reassignment of Automotive Solution Business Functions

In accordance with the above changes, the functions of the Automotive Solution Business will be re-assigned effective October 1, 2021. The Automotive Solution Business Unit will comprise Sales, Automotive Business Management and Automotive New Business Creation functions and the following two core product businesses led by Takeshi Kataoka and Vivek Bhan.

  • Digital Product Business: Reports directly to Takeshi Kataoka, Senior Vice President, General Manager of Automotive Solution Business Unit
  • A&P Product Business: Reports directly to Vivek Bhan

Brief Biography of Vivek Bhan

Vivek joined Dialog in 2013 and has served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Custom Mixed Signal Business (CMS). In these roles, Vivek was responsible for leading global teams to diversify Dialog’s customer base and expand product offerings. He also oversaw product marketing and definition, system and application engineering, design engineering, software development, program management and also central engineering, which comprises process technology, CAD, Tools and IP.

Prior to joining Dialog, Vivek has previously held executive level and senior management positions at Fujitsu Semiconductor, Freescale and Motorola. In his previous capacities, Vivek led global product groups and teams providing solutions across multiple technologies including 2G/3G/4G, Zigbee, iDEN, GPS, BLE, Power, Battery, Display, Audio, RF and Digital SoCs.

Vivek holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering and an MBA from Arizona State University. He holds multiple patents and publications.
