About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Andrew represents lenders and borrowers in domestic and cross-border debt financing transactions, including syndicated secured and unsecured credit facilities, investment grade loans, acquisition and other leveraged finance transactions, mezzanine and holdco PIK financings, commercial and asset-based lending, private placements, and structured finance transactions. He has particular expertise representing direct lenders in domestic and U.S.-Canada cross-border second lien financings, in connection with acquisitions and other leveraged finance transactions sponsored by prominent U.S. and Canadian private equity and pension fund sponsors. Andrew has also represented sponsors in leveraged buyouts, and has experience in securitizations, derivatives and financial restructuring.

He joins Dorsey after nearly 14 years as a partner in Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt’s New York office. Prior to joining Osler, Andrew was a member of the global finance group at Milbank, based in New York. During his nearly nine years at that firm, he was seconded to its Hong Kong, Silicon Valley and London offices. Before that, Andrew began his legal career practicing Canadian law in the Toronto office of what is now Norton Rose. Andrew has worked on transactions involving borrowers in more than 20 countries. In addition to being admitted to practice in New York, Ontario and England & Wales, he is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA); a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA); a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM); and a Fellow of the American College of Investment Counsel. He will be an excellent addition to Dorsey’s long-standing U.S.-Canada Practice Group, and will bolster the broader cross-border capability of the Firm’s Finance & Restructuring Practice Group.

“Dorsey has built an impressive finance & restructuring practice and we’re delighted to add Andrew to this group,” noted Bill Stoeri, Managing Partner of Dorsey & Whitney. “This expanded team will allow us to continue building a top-tier practice that provides high-value legal services to our domestic and international clients, including those based in Canada.”

Dorsey has made a concerted effort to grow strategically in its New York office, adding 18 lawyers over the last two years. With the newest additions, Dorsey’s ranks will have grown by more than 60 percent since 2019, and the Firm continues to seek strategic opportunities to expand its presence in New York.
