About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

University of Phoenix Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research Scholars Present at International Convention

College of Doctoral Studies research center work by scholars will be showcased at the event

Researchers from University of Phoenix College of Doctoral Studies Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research (CEITR) will present multiple research studies at the 2022 Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) International Convention, “Impacting Student Learning,” October 24 – 28, 2022. The convention brings together educational researchers and practitioners interested in learning design, performance improvement, and educational uses of technology.

The research labs at CEITR focus on cutting edge topics in education and put researchers in the center of an effective ecosystem of experts, resources, and tools. Over the course of the pandemic, the transformation of educational technology brought to the foreground CEITR focus areas of education communications, access and learning discussions.

“We continue focusing on applied research topics in the field of education to improve the quality of teaching and learning in K-12 as well as higher education,” states Mansureh Kebritchi, Ph.D., University Research Chair of the CEIRT. “Our collaborative research teams investigate issues and challenges for online and in-person education with the goal of resolving the issues and improving learners’ and educators’ experiences. The seven studies presented at AECT are examples of current studies carried out at the center.”

The 2022 AECT presentations address a range of topics about the impact of technology on students’ learning. There are 29 CEITR researchers presenting on eight research topics including:

  • Doctoral Student Connectedness During Different Program Phases;
  • Measuring Effective Online Tutoring: A K-12 Perspective;
  • Importance of Mentoring for Educational Leadership: Impacting Student Learning;
  • The Grit Teaching Strategies and Course Retention of Online Undergraduate Adult Learners;
  • Reshaping Practitioner Higher Education Institutions to Serve Adult Learners: Moving Beyond The COVID-19 Pandemic;
  • Feedback Strategies, Learners’ Expectations, and Usages in Online Higher Education; and
  • Mini-certification Program to Enhance Faculty Engagement and Professional Development.

Additionally, CEITR scholars and faculty will lead a roundtable session, “How Do We Measure the Impact of Online Tutoring Programs at the K-12 Level?” with contributions from Danielle Kearns-Sixsmith, Ed.D., Frederick Lawrence, Ph.D., David Mailloux, M.S, and Rheanna Reed, DM.

AECT is an international professional association of instructional designers, educators and professionals. This year’s virtual and in-person conference in Las Vegas, themed “Impacting Student Learning,” offers practical applications, research, workshops, and demonstrations of new technologies in teaching and learning.

Further information and registration is available at the AECT convention website.
