About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Larissa Crandall from Gigamon Featured on CRN’s 2022 Women of the Channel List for the Sixth Consecutive Year

Gigamon worldwide channels and alliances leader drives continued momentum of the company’s global channel-first strategy

Gigamon, the leading deep observability company, today announced that CRN, a brand of The Channel Company, has named Larissa Crandall, vice president of Worldwide Channel and Alliances, to the esteemed Women of the Channel list for 2022. As a testament to her leadership, this marks the sixth consecutive year that Crandall has been recognized for her, and her team’s, accomplishments. This annual list features female leaders in the IT channel – including vendors, distributors, and solution providers whose vision, expertise, and contributions make an impact on the industry every day.

With over 22 years as a channel sales executive in the high-tech industry, Crandall has extensive experience transforming global partner ecosystems. Since joining Gigamon, she has played a key role in doubling the channel team while pivoting strategy to a channel-first approach. In her first year, the Gigamon channel business grew more than 35 percent, resulting in an increase in revenue, channel-initiated business, and ecosystem alignment. Crandall also helped launch the creation of the Gigamon Playbook, built and executed creative demand generation, training and enablement programs, as well as the development of go-to-market (GTM) solutions to accelerate revenue during turbulent times.

“It is an honor to be featured among the extraordinary women on this list,” said Crandall. “Our team is leading the charge into the cloud, and I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for Gigamon and our channel partners. Personally, I am once again humbled to work with such an amazing team that continues to deliver value and resilience to the channel.”

“I am continuously impressed and inspired by Larissa’s commitment to building a world-class team and strengthening our channel strategy,” said Shane Buckley, president and CEO of Gigamon. “Larissa and her team have my full confidence and support as Gigamon enters its next stage of growth and seeks to enable partners to provide our customers with the deep observability required to harness actionable network-level intelligence to securely manage their hybrid and multi-cloud IT environments.”

“We are proud to once again recognize the remarkable leaders on this year’s Women of the Channel list. Their influence, confidence, and diligence continue to accelerate channel success significantly,” said Blaine Raddon, CEO of The Channel Company. “Their accomplishments will inspire others, and we look forward to witnessing their future contributions to the channel.”

In addition to Crandall’s dedication to the channel, she is also a sponsor of the GigaWomen group, helping to empower a group of professional allies to share their knowledge and experiences. Crandall’s commitment to her peers and the channel have also been recognized in recent award wins such as the 2022 CRN Channel Chief’s List, and the CRN 2021 Tech Innovator Award.
