About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

University of Phoenix Hosts Educational Equity Webinar Expanding Conversation and Insights on Generational Differences in the Workplace

Webinar features accomplished panel of experts providing insights on understanding the multi-generational workplace experience

University of Phoenix is holding the newest webinar in its Educational Equity Webinar Series, titled “Voices & Perspectives of a Multigenerational Workforce” on August 18 at 11:00am PDT. The second webinar in a series focused on multigenerational workforce, this event expands the initial discussion about working together to bridge generational differences in the workplace, to share insights on their own experiences from leaders across industries and career trajectories.

The webinar will be moderated by Mallary Tytel, Ph.D., MBA, president and founder of Healthy Workplaces, a national consulting practice, and a skilled architect in start-up, turn-around, and acquisition situations, with expertise in human systems dynamics, complexity science, culture change, strategy and leadership development. Tytel has a unique background blend of business, government, education, and community-based practice spanning more than 20 years. Most recently her work is devoted to leveling the playing field: supporting women leaders at all professional levels and building diverse, inclusive, and equitable communities.

The event is part of a public series intended for educators, DEI practitioners, higher education leaders and administrators, employers, nonprofit organizations, government affiliates, and University of Phoenix faculty, staff, students, and alumni across the globe.

“I grew up with Obama as President and seeing injustices being publicized so frequently impacted the way I see the world and how I view the organizations that I want to work for,” states Caleb Robinson, public affairs intern at SKDK, and one of the event’s panelists. “I remember sitting at the dinner table and hearing my parents talk about what they were experiencing in the workplace. It was not ok then; it is not ok now, and I had to ask myself: how do I make changes to this in the future?”

The webinar features a panel of leaders including Zachary E. Shirley, Ed.D., Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leader for Cambium Assessment, Inc. (CAI); John Ramirez, MBA, Dean of Operations for the College of Doctoral Studies at University of Phoenix; Erica Scott, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Director of People and Culture at MAPS' Public Benefit Corporation; and Robinson, public affairs intern at SKDK and recent Legal Communications and Political Science graduate of Howard University.

The discussion will be hosted by Tondra Richardson, MBA, director of Student Diversity & Inclusion, and Saray Lopez, MBA, director, Student Diversity & Inclusion, both with the Office of Educational Equity at University of Phoenix.
