About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Manatt Expands National Advisor Team With Health Care Executive in New York

Robert Fraiman’s experience driving many of health care’s most transformational transactions over the past three decades enhances the Firm’s business advisory capabilities across the country

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, a multidisciplinary, integrated professional services firm, announced today that Robert Fraiman has joined the Firm’s Health Care team in New York as a national advisor. Fraiman most recently served as President of health care investment banking firm Cain Brothers, a division of KeyBanc Capital Markets, where he worked with clients across the U.S. health care industry, and advised C-suite executives, boards and private equity firms in mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital raising, and strategic growth initiatives.

“Rob is a respected adviser, mentor and prolific thought leader with decades of experience driving innovation and spearheading transactions that have helped define today’s health care economy,” said Donna L. Wilson, CEO and Managing Partner of Manatt. “He will be an invaluable resource for our teams and clients as we further enhance our strategic advisory capabilities and provide creative solutions for stakeholders throughout every corner of health care.”

At Manatt, Fraiman will leverage his extensive experience within the Firm’s national health care advisory team as it continues positioning clients for success by helping advance the development and execution of their key strategies and goals. As President of Cain Brothers for 14 years, he oversaw the significant expansion of the firm, including the mergers and acquisitions franchise, private equity sponsor coverage and wide industry sector coverage. Over his 36-year health care investment banking career, he advised clients in numerous high-profile transactions, including recapitalizations and mergers of several major physician groups and other health care providers and payers, and mergers and joint ventures between nonprofit and for-profit enterprises. His advisory background has involved almost every corner of health care, having worked with provider, payer, digital health, medical technologies and life sciences businesses.

“Throughout his career, Rob has built a well-earned reputation as one of the go-to dealmakers in health care, having successfully overseen and driven hundreds of transformational transactions through to completion,” said Manatt Health Leader Bill Bernstein. “He is a perfect fit for our national advisor program—which consists of accomplished leaders across health care, government and financial services with firsthand experience addressing complex business, political and operational challenges for companies of all sizes—and he will greatly benefit our professionals and clients alike.”

In addition to his advisory work with Manatt, Fraiman sits on several commercial and academic boards. He is a member of the Operating Council and Senior Advisory Board of Consonance Capital—a health care-focused middle market private equity firm—as well as a board member of Campus Bound Scholars, a college mentoring program supporting first-generation college students. He is also chair of the Advisory Board of Columbia Business School’s Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management Program.

“I look forward to this next chapter in my career and being able to work closely with Manatt Health’s outstanding team of lawyers and consultants as they partner with clients to help mold the future of health care,” said Fraiman. “I have always admired Manatt Health, which has assembled a team with broad and deep skills who are regularly working on cutting-edge matters with innovators and leading organizations in a variety of key health care areas.”

Fraiman is the latest addition to Manatt Health’s rapidly growing legal and business consulting team, which includes recent arrivals Paul Irving, Axel Bernabe, Seth Frazier, Eric Gold, Thomas (Tom) Robertson, Edo Banach, Julia E. Smith, Nicholas (Nick) Bath Jr., Shelli Silver, Dr. Troyen (Troy) A. Brennan and Tracy A. Massel.

Fraiman received his M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and his B.A. in history from Colgate University.
