About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

AECOM earns Equality 100 Award on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023 Corporate Equality Index

AECOM receives top score on the HRC Foundation’s assessment of LGBTQ+ workplace equality for the sixth consecutive year

AECOM, the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firm, today announced that it has been recognized with the Equality 100 Award: Leader in LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation’s 2023 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The CEI is the national benchmarking survey and report for U.S. businesses measuring policies and practices pertinent to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. Receiving a top score of 100 puts AECOM among the top-ranked firms within its industry for a sixth consecutive year.

“Our continued recognition from the HRC Foundation is an important reflection of our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and I’m proud that we are home to the best talent in the industry,” said Troy Rudd, AECOM’s chief executive officer. “We have prioritized creating a respectful, inclusive culture that celebrates diversity of perspectives and ideas, which is what ultimately contributes to delivering better outcomes for our clients and making a positive impact on our communities.”

AECOM’s culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion (ED&I) enables it to better anticipate client needs, understand the challenges facing the communities it serves, drive innovation that propels the industry forward and realize its purpose of delivering a better world. The Company continues to take action by engaging employees globally through employee resource groups and regional ED&I opportunities, offering family-friendly benefit policies, building leadership accountability, and expanding recruitment efforts to ensure a workforce reflective of the communities it serves.

“Investing in our people is a core pillar of our Think and Act Globally strategy, and we remain dedicated to promoting a strong culture of equity, diversity and inclusion throughout our organization,” said Shirley Adams, AECOM’s chief human resources officer. “Being recognized by the HRC Foundation for a sixth year is a testament to our values and underscores our efforts to nurture a workplace where everyone is included and has the opportunity to prosper.”

The HRC Foundation is committed to keeping the criteria for the CEI rigorous, fair and transparent. Employers earning top scores took concrete steps to ensure greater equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) workers and their families in the form of comprehensive policies, benefits and practices. The CEI rates companies on detailed criteria falling under four central pillars:

  • Non-discrimination policies across business entities;
  • Equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families;
  • Supporting an inclusive culture; and,
  • Corporate social responsibility.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for LGBTQ+ people. Through its programs, the HRC Foundation seeks to make transformational change in the everyday lives of LGBTQ+ people, shedding light on inequity and deepening the public’s understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, with a clear focus on advancing transgender and racial justice.
