About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Ingram Micro Achieves AWS Migration Competency Status to Accelerate AWS Growth for Channel Partners

The AWS Migration Competency recognizes Ingram Micro’s proven and extensive ability to help channel partners worldwide successfully migrate workloads to AWS

Ingram Micro Inc. announced today it is the first global AWS Distributor to achieve the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Migration Competency. This designation recognizes that Ingram Micro has demonstrated deep and wide technical knowledge and professional services expertise in moving businesses to AWS through all phases of complex migration projects, including discovery, planning, migration, and operations.

“Achieving the AWS Migration Competency further differentiates Ingram Micro as an AWS Partner, giving our channel partners access to professional services that can help them accelerate the customer cloud adoption journey by providing technical personnel, tools, education, and technical support to partners and their customers,” says Duncan Robinson, vice president, growth partnerships, cloud, Ingram Micro.

“Delivered through Ingram Micro’s Center of Excellence, the expanded portfolio of migration services brings in-depth knowledge, technical skill, and business value to Ingram Micro’s channel partners looking to expand their AWS capabilities to meet the needs of the global economy and grow more profitably. As more and more businesses look to digitally optimize, demand for migration services and the MSPs who can deliver them will follow.”

According to International Data Corporation (IDC)1, worldwide revenue for enterprise applications is projected to grow from $279.6 billion in 2022 to $385.2 billion in 2026, with a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.0 percent. Adding to the opportunity for channel partners globally, nearly all growth in enterprise application spending is projected by IDC to come from investments in public cloud, which is expected to represent nearly two-thirds of all enterprise application revenue by 2026.

“Embracing digital transformation and securely moving businesses to a managed cloud or hybrid cloud infrastructure have become critical to the growth strategies of both channel partners and their customers,” notes Victor Baez, senior vice president, Cloud, Ingram Micro. “Migration services are a heavy lift in time, talent, and skill for many of our channel partners, and another area where Ingram Micro continues to make investments to fill the gaps and help our partners thrive as trusted advisors.”

By achieving AWS Migration Competency status, Ingram Micro now delivers even greater benefits for channel partners, including reducing the time to value and expanding access to secure cloud services for them and their customers. Ingram Micro’s long-standing and successful relationship with AWS includes earning several AWS Competency and AWS Service Delivery designations in recent years, including the AWS Cloud Management Tools (CMT) Competency, the AWS DevOps Consulting Competency, and the AWS Config Service Delivery designation.

AWS is enabling scalable, flexible, and cost-effective solutions from startups to global enterprises. To support the seamless integration and deployment of these solutions, AWS established the AWS Competency Program to help customers identify Consulting and Technology AWS Partner Network (APN) members with deep industry experience and expertise.
