Governor Mike Parson Announces Proclamation Recognizing Importance of Water and Wastewater Treatment Professionals

Missouri American Water praises announcement highlighting the importance of employees dedicated to the delivery of water and wastewater service

Governor Mike Parson recently signed a proclamation declaring September 10-16 as Water and Wastewater Professionals Week in Missouri. With more than 700 dedicated employees statewide, Missouri American Water joins in the Governor’s recognition of the important work water and wastewater professionals do to keep Missourians healthy.

Currently one in four Missourians receive their water and/or wastewater service from Missouri American Water.

“We are proud of our employees who work hard each day to deliver safe, clean, reliable water and wastewater service to our customers,” said Rich Svindland, President of Missouri American Water. “These services are critical to the health, vitality and growth of our communities and this proclamation gives us an opportunity to recognize their efforts.”

Missouri American Water is planning to invest approximately $450 million to upgrade its water and wastewater systems in 2023, including the replacement of aging pipes and improvements at treatment plants to protect and enhance water quality.

“It takes a lot of infrastructure investment to maintain our water and wastewater systems, but our people are still our greatest asset,” said Svindland. “From our team of water quality experts to our engineers, operators, and field service personnel, the commitment to excellence our employees display every day to protect the health of our customers and the environment is to be celebrated.”
