About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

IndiGO and Modeshift Announce the Launch of IndiGO Mobile Pay: A New Way to Ride

In partnership with Modeshift, IndiGO launches IndiGO Mobile Pay on December 16, offering a seamless, contactless fare system for riders across Indiana County

Indiana County Transit Authority (IndiGO), in partnership with Modeshift, announces the official launch of IndiGO Mobile Pay, a new digital fare collection system. Starting December 16, 2024, IndiGO riders will experience a modernized transit system designed to enhance convenience, improve fare management and streamline their overall travel experience.

IndiGO Mobile Pay offers passengers a fast and easy way to manage their fares through a mobile app or smart cards, reducing reliance on physical tickets or cash. Beyond simplifying payments, the system provides benefits like the ability to plan trips, track ride history and manage accounts digitally. These enhancements aim to make public transit more accessible and user-focused, all while complementing existing fare payment options.

“We are thrilled to offer this new digital system, which not only simplifies the way our riders pay for travel but also improves the overall experience,” said John Kanyan, Executive Director of IndiGO. “IndiGO Mobile Pay reflects our ongoing commitment to providing accessible, user-friendly solutions that make everyday travel smoother and more reliable. As we move into the future of transportation, this modernized system will help meet the evolving needs of our community.”

Key features of the IndiGO Mobile Pay platform include:

  • Mobile Ticketing: The free IndiGO app, available for Apple and Android devices, enables riders to plan trips, pay fares and validate tickets with ease. Download the app here:
  • Online Portal: Riders can access the same benefits through a user-friendly online portal, offering tools for trip planning and fare purchases.
  • Smart Pay Account: Riders can create personalized profiles to manage smart cards, save favorite trips, track purchase history and reload e-wallets.
  • Smart Cards: For riders who prefer physical options, reloadable smart cards are available, offering a convenient way to pay fares using a credit or debit card.
  • Data Collection: The system provides real-time ridership insights to support optimized transit operations and data-driven decision-making.

“With this launch, IndiGO is taking an important step in modernizing public transit,” said Miroslav Katsarov, CEO of Modeshift. “Technology plays a crucial role in improving public transportation systems, and we are proud to partner with IndiGO to elevate the level of service in the region. IndiGO Mobile Pay is not just about transforming how people pay; it’s about creating a more connected, efficient and sustainable transit system that puts rider benefits at the forefront.”

IndiGO becomes the ninth transit authority in Pennsylvania to partner with Modeshift, joining other agencies such as Crawford Area Transit Authority, Hazleton Public Transit and Butler Transit Authority in adopting digital fare solutions. As Modeshift continues to work with transit agencies across the state, IndiGO’s adoption of this system demonstrates how smaller agencies can lead in innovation and set the stage for broader regional solutions.
