  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. Major Upgrades Completed at Illinois American Water’s Treatment Plant in Jerseyville

$31.5 million water treatment plant improvement project enhances water treatment processes and delivery of clean, safe water in Jerseyville.

Major upgrades and improvements were completed this fall at Illinois American Water’s water treatment plant in Jerseyville. The transition to the new water treatment plant has been seamless for local customers and is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the reliability and safety of the water provided to Jerseyville customers.

Plocher Construction of Highland was the contractor of the $31.5 million upgrade to the water treatment plant. All work on the project was completed by union employees.

“The groundwater source for the Jerseyville District remains the same and there are no changes to the quality of the water provided to our customers,” said Sarah Bowman, Operation Manager, Central Division, Illinois American Water.

Bowman continued, “The improvements allow the facility to more effectively treat the raw water for more efficient use of chemicals used in the water treatment process, including an improved lime treatment system. The project includes updates to equipment for safer and more reliable operation of the facility. The improvements also allow the facility to meet the future needs of the Jerseyville community and continue to meet all regulatory quality standards.”

The original water treatment plant was built in 1963 by the City of Jerseyville. Illinois American Water purchased the water system in Jerseyville, which included the water treatment plant, in 2020.

“Through the transition to the enhanced water treatment plant, Illinois American Water continues to prioritize the safety, reliability, and quality,” added Bowman. “We would like to thank our Jerseyville District employees for their continued dedication and commitment to meeting Illinois American Water’s high standards throughout the project.”

Illinois American Water monitors and tests the drinking water in the Jerseyville District continuously. Ongoing tests confirm the water in the Jerseyville District is safe and meets all water quality standards.

Bowman said future upgrades and improvements are planned in 2025 at the water treatment plant. The upgrades will continue to improve the water treatment plant’s resiliency.
