About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Blue Yonder Named a Leader in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Supply Chain Planning Solutions for Fourth Year in a Row, Positioned Furthest in Completeness of Vision

Evaluation based on Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision

Blue Yonder is recognized as a Leader in three Gartner Magic Quadrant reports covering Supply Chain Planning Solutions, Transportation Management Systems and Warehouse Management Systems3

Blue Yonder, a leader in digital supply chain transformations, has been positioned by Gartner as a Leader in the recently released 2024 Magic Quadrant for Supply Chain Planning Solutions1 based on the Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision. The company is positioned furthest in Completeness of Vision.

Blue Yonder attributes its success to its strong cognitive planning capabilities – built on the Blue Yonder Platform – that offer advanced end-to-end and integrated supply chain planning solutions, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) capabilities, and data management. In addition, the company’s recent acquisition of flexis AG, expands the company’s factory planning, scheduling, sequencing, and slotting capabilities.

Blue Yonder has been recognized as a Leader four consecutive times in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Supply Chain Planning Solutions. The company was also named a Leader four times in the previously published Gartner Magic Quadrant for Supply Chain Planning System of Record report that was published during 2010, 2014, 2016, and 20182.

“Our customers are seeking a new approach to supply chain management, one specifically designed to tackle the agility and resilience demands posed by the daily challenges of volatile supply chains,” said Andrea Morgan-Vandome, chief innovation officer, Blue Yonder. “Blue Yonder’s cognitive solutions, powered by predictive and generative AI, ensure that planning and execution work seamlessly in tandem on a large scale. Our planning solutions span every tier of the supply chain, work off a common set of data and are objective led. They are execution aware which means if a disruption or opportunity is sensed, our patented solvers will recommend options for collaborative resolution. This has replaced conventional ‘scenario’ or ‘what if’ planning with objective-led, range-based planning, preparing the enterprise for many possible futures.”

Blue Yonder supply chain planning capabilities use AI and ML, along with real-time data across the end-to-end supply chain, from suppliers to consumers, to sense, predict and act based on high-quality and highly-accurate plans. With ML forecasting, inventory and supply optimization, detailed scheduling, network design, transportation load building, large-scale retail deployment, and e-commerce promising all operating seamlessly, customers can reduce the decision cycle times, improve service level and margin, and enable growth. For example, AI scenario planning and real-time ML predictions are shifting planning workflows away from the constraints of overnight batches. In addition, the always-on planning approach allows businesses to quickly identify improvement opportunities and potential challenges, enabling planners to respond appropriately to maximize performance and minimize risk.

“Enabling the growth of our innovative and differentiated product portfolio meant that we needed a world-class supply-chain solution that could meet the complex requirements of our business and ‘Digital First’ strategy. After a rigorous evaluation, we selected Blue Yonder as the provider best suited to support our current and future needs,” said Chance Finley, vice president, Global Supply Chain Operations, onsemi.

With this latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for Supply Chain Planning, Blue Yonder is one of only two evaluated companies recognized as a Leader in three Gartner Magic Quadrant reports covering Supply Chain Planning, Transportation Management Systems, and Warehouse Management Systems3.
