About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Jerry Tichner has deep experience representing hospitals, health systems and investors in a broad spectrum of transactional and regulatory matters

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, a multidisciplinary, integrated professional services firm, announced today the addition of Jerome (Jerry) Tichner as a Partner in the Firm’s Boston office. With a 25-year track record of successfully guiding health care-related acquisitions, affiliations and divestitures for a wide range of health systems and other health care organizations, Tichner brings his depth of experience with health care transactions and regulatory compliance to Manatt’s robust bench of dealmakers, consultants and litigators.

“With a thriving health care and life sciences industry driving innovation within Boston and across the East Coast, we are committed to expanding Manatt’s footprint in the region and deepening our roster of talent who are guiding clients through our health industry’s continued transformation,” said Manatt CEO and Managing Partner Donna L. Wilson. “Jerry is a first-rate health care transactional lawyer with impressive private equity and non-profit experience, making him an ideal addition to our growing office in Boston, led by Partner Eric Gold, as well as being a terrific add to our national corporate and health care teams.”

Tichner represents health care stakeholders—including hospitals, health systems and health industry investors—in a broad range of transactional matters, including platform/system sales, add-on and divestiture transactions, mergers, joint ventures and affiliations. In recent years Jerry has led or played a leading role in the acquisition, sale or affiliation of more than 35 hospitals, and the platform development, acquisition and divestiture of multi-state hospice, home health and other providers. In recognition of his achievements, Tichner has consistently been recognized on industry-leading lists including the Chambers USA Guide, The Legal 500 United States guide and The Best Lawyers in America.

“Jerry brings a tremendous wealth of knowledge in complex transactional deals, as well as an understanding of how to navigate the intricate regulatory frameworks both in Massachusetts and across the country that are increasingly affecting health care companies and those doing business with them,” said Manatt Health Leader Bill Bernstein. “A collaborative and accomplished attorney, Jerry will be a perfect fit to our health care transactions and regulatory practice led by Partner Paul Carr-Rollitt, as well as our national team as we work with our clients at the forefront of innovation.”

“I’m thrilled to join the Firm and work with its outstanding legal and consulting professionals, many of whom I have had the pleasure of knowing for a long time, as we collectively support our clients’ efforts to navigate and capitalize on the many opportunities that exist in today’s health care ecosystem,” Tichner said. “Manatt’s model of bringing together legal, business, policy and consulting acumen for the benefit of its clients is incredibly rare and provides an ideal environment to achieve success for our clients.”

Tichner joins the Firm’s expanding roster of legal and consulting professionals across the Firm’s core practices in the past year, including Corporate and Finance (Bill Broome); Digital and Technology (Tim Andrews and Lisa W.
