About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Lyra Health Advances Health Equity With Proactive Social Care Solution

Insights-driven, proactive support for social determinants of health sets a new industry standard

Lyra Health, the leading provider of Workforce Mental Health solutions for employers, today announced an innovative way to proactively identify and mitigate social determinants of health that may affect a member's overall well-being, and to connect members to individualized resources.

Addressing unmet needs that impact mental well-being

Nearly half of all adults in the U.S. experience at least one unmet social need, such as food scarcity, inadequate housing and caregiving challenges. Conventional methods of addressing social determinants of health that impact mental health often require individuals to seek out resources on their own. To reduce the burden on those in need, Lyra is investing in proactive, insights-driven outreach by Resource Coordinators to address member’s unique circumstances, including:

  • Assessing social care needs: A new well-being assessment as part of Lyra’s core platform will screen for social determinants of health such as social connection, physical health, financial stressors and caregiving challenges. Based on the assessment, members will receive personalized recommendations for relevant Lyra mental health care and well-being resources such as working with a Lyra Resource Coordinator.
  • Dedicated support from start to finish: Lyra Resource Coordinators are trained to offer members personalized and compassionate support on topics including financial worries, food or housing insecurity, caregiving needs, and social inclusion. Based on individual member needs, Resource Coordinators will provide referrals for local and national resources, employer-sponsored benefits, and additional Lyra resources as well as assistance with next steps.
  • Proactive, insights-driven outreach: Using third-party insights to identify communities with health equity needs, Resource Coordinators are able to proactively offer support and determine the most effective personalized plan, ensuring equal access to mental health support for all.

“Celebrating the various lived experiences of every Associate is core to our company’s DNA, and we put special emphasis on understanding how personal circumstances may impact not only the way they live, but also their ability to bring their full selves to work,” said Johanna Baldwin, Director, Associate Health & Well-being at VCA. “We've seen tremendous value in supporting our people with Lyra's care solutions and look forward to empowering our Associates with every available resource to improve their physical, emotional, and mental well-being."

“As the only mental health provider to demonstrate equitable mental health outcomes across race and ethnicity, we’re furthering our commitment to health equity by accessing and connecting members to relevant resources for unmet essential needs,” said Dr. Connie Chen, chief operating officer, Lyra Health. “Rather than requiring the members in need to seek out resources on their own, Lyra is combining insights with proactive support from Resource Coordinators to serve as a bridge for members experiencing social challenges that may impact their mental health. Our trained and compassionate team will provide individualized support for housing, financial, and food-related needs, referrals to legal resources, or even assistance completing applications for social assistance programs across languages.”
