About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Truck Driver and Trucking Firm J.B. Hunt Sued Over Deadly Distracted Driving Crash in Central Texas

Zehl & Associates representing victim’s husband and four adult children in lawsuit

The truck accident lawyers at Zehl & Associates have filed a wrongful death suit on behalf of Tracy Rambosek, who died from injuries suffered when her disabled vehicle was hit by an 18-wheeler.

Video from the truck driver’s dashcam captured the crash and showed the driver was distracted by his cell phone at the moment of impact, according to the lawsuit.

This crash happened May 22 on Interstate 35 between Austin and Waco in the city of Troy. The Ford Bronco Mrs. Rambosek was driving ran out of gas, and she was sitting inside the vehicle in the right lane of travel.

Soon thereafter, according to the lawsuit, a Peterbilt Freightliner 18-wheeler driven by J.B. Hunt driver Barry Giebelstein crashed into the back of Mrs. Rambosek’s vehicle. She was critically injured and later died at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.

“This is a textbook case of distracted driving,” said Zehl & Associates founding partner Ryan Zehl. “The video shows that Mr. Giebelstein never made an attempt to stop or to avoid hitting the Bronco because he was too busy checking his phone. We’re confident that we can help Mrs. Rambosek’s loved ones get justice in this case.”

Tracy Rambosek’s husband Chris Rambosek and her four adult children, Adam Ducote, John Goetzinger, Thomas Goetzinger and Emma Goetzinger are the plaintiffs in the case.

Mr. and Mrs. Rambosek had recently retired from their careers in the Houston area and had purchased land outside the city to start a small farm. The plaintiffs are seeking to recover damages including medical and funeral costs, loss of companionship and mental anguish.

Mr. Giebelstein is named as a defendant along with his employer J.B. Hunt, one of the largest transportation and freight operators in the country.

The case is Christopher Rambosek, et al. v. J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. and Barry Giebelstein in the Dallas County Court of Law. The case number is CC-24-05175-B.
