About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Jack Welch Management Institute Ranked Eighth Best Online MBA Program by Poets&Quants for Second Straight Year

JWMI recognized in the list of best online MBA programs for the seventh year in a row

The Jack Welch Management Institute at Strayer University (JWMI) was recognized by Poets&Quants, the premier online publication for business education news, as one of the top 10 online MBA programs for 2025. JWMI was ranked number 8 for the second year in a row, securing its spot in the top 10 for the fourth consecutive year. Data for the rankings came from surveys distributed to participating schools and to alumni, with 57 schools included in this year’s ranking.

"We are proud to remain ranked among Poets&Quants’ list of the top 10 online MBA programs in the country,” said Mary Carr, Senior Vice Provost and Dean, JWMI. “We are particularly encouraged by high rankings in overall professor quality and accessibility of professors, which demonstrates our faculty’s dedication to providing students an excellent educational experience.”

Poets&Quants based its rankings on three core criteria of online business programs, which include: admissions standards, academic experience, and career outcomes. Data is collected through both school and alumni surveys and includes a wide range of topics such as GPA, acceptance rate, student engagement, program fulfillment, and more.

JWMI has consistently remained in Poets&Quants’ annual online MBA program rankings. Prior to this year’s announcement, JWMI placed at 6 and 8 in 2023 and 2024 respectively. The program has also been highly ranked among top online MBA programs by The Princeton Review and CEO Magazine.

“At JWMI, our courses are thoughtfully designed to empower students to achieve their highest potential,” said Dr. Antoinette Farmer-Thompson, President of Strayer University. “These results are a reflection of the dedication of our leadership, faculty, and students, reinforcing the legacy of excellence that defines JWMI. We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition.”

Since becoming part of Strayer University in 2011, JWMI has grown rapidly and graduated more than 3,500 students. Founded by the renowned CEO and business icon, the late Jack Welch, JWMI was designed to provide students with opportunities to learn from business leaders and propel their careers forward. Jack Welch’s influence spans the curriculum, faculty, students, and administration. JWMI currently enrolls a diverse population of approximately 2,000 students, representing over 68 countries.
