New alternative gives consumers option to replace plastic and EPS coolers

DS Smith, a leading fiber-based packaging manufacturer, which was acquired by International Paper in 2025, has launched its 100% recyclable and reusable cooler as a sustainable alternative to plastic and Styrofoam coolers. Crafted from environmentally friendly, wax-free corrugated board, DS Smith’s “GoChill Cooler” provides consumers with a solution to keep food and beverages fresh on-the-go while reducing waste and carbon emissions.

The moisture-resistant design is ideal for consumers who value more sustainable packaging options, particularly when spending time outdoors. Studies show 63% of those likely to purchase this cooler believe minimizing their environmental impact is important and 52% are willing to spend more for a product that is eco-friendly. The product has also been tested to meet food-grade safety standards and offers the same cooling efficiency as other coolers without the negative environmental impact. Because GoChill Cooler utilizes DS Smith’s GreenCoat^®technology, a food-safe, moisture-resistant, recyclable coated box solution, consumers can trust their food and beverages are temperature-controlled, insulated and protected.
