About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

U.S. Plastics Pact Welcomes Four New Members to Board of Directors

Leaders from across the packaging industry join governing body to guide strategy and impact

The U.S. Plastics Pact (USPP) announces the addition of four new members to its Board of Directors:

  • Steve Alexander, President & CEO, Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR)
  • John Garnett, Senior Vice President of Sustainability, Technical & Innovation, Charter Next Generation
  • Mike Newman, CEO, Returnity
  • Linda Roman, Director, R&D Packaging, NA R&D Fellow, Kraft Heinz

These leaders bring a wealth of expertise and a deep commitment to the USPP’s mission of advancing a circular economy for plastic packaging in the United States. Their diverse perspectives across recycling, packaging manufacturing, reuse innovation, and consumer brands will help guide the strategic direction of the USPP as it continues to drive collaboration, innovation, and measurable impact across the plastics value chain.

“We are thrilled to welcome Steve, John, Mike, and Linda to the U.S. Plastics Pact Board of Directors,” said Jonathan Quinn, President & CEO of the U.S. Plastics Pact. “The U.S. Plastics Pact was built on the idea that change at scale requires bringing every part of the plastics value chain to the table. With these new board members, we are strengthening the USPP’s foundation through additional leaders who bring real-world expertise and a shared commitment to action. Their expertise will help us accelerate progress toward circular solutions for plastic packaging that reduce waste, improve recycling, reuse/refill and composting systems and build a stronger, more sustainable system in the U.S.”

The Board of Directors serves to support the high-level strategy, oversight, and direction of the organization by advancing the USPP’s mission to bring together resources and expertise across the entire value chain to advance the circular economy for plastic packaging in the U.S. The four new board members join existing U.S. Plastics Pact board members Holli Alexander, Susan Fife-Ferris, and Richie Getter.

“Welcoming these four new directors with their strong track record in pushing for sustainability and innovation throughout our industry marks an important step forward for the Pact,” said Holli Alexander, Chair of the U.S. Plastics Pact Board of Directors and Strategic Initiatives Manager for Circularity at Eastman. “Their voices and leadership will be instrumental as we continue working toward our ambitious 2025 goals and beyond. Together, this board is well-positioned to accelerate the efforts of the USPP through the next phase of collaboration and innovation across the entire plastics value chain.”

The U.S. Plastics Pact unites more than 100 organizations—from brands and retailers to resin producers, recyclers, state and local governments, NGOs, and policymakers—to advance measurable progress toward a circular economy for plastic packaging. The U.S. Plastics Pact is one of thirteen national or regional Plastics Pacts working to implement solutions toward a circular economy for plastic.

"With these new board members, we are strengthening the USPP’s foundation through additional leaders who bring real-world expertise and a shared commitment to action."
