About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Dexter Baptiste Is Named the Winner of Alignable’s 2024 Local Business Person Of The Year For Clear Lake, TX.
“Dexter's "client-first" mentality, coupled with his passion for helping others is a winning combination for his clients. Dexter works tirelessly to help his clients create a secure future,” said Jessica Harman, business owner.
Dexter is a dedicated professional and problem-solver. He was recognized for his consistent efforts to connect with individuals, families, and businesses about financial wellness. He believes anyone can achieve financial security through increased knowledge and by developing sound fundamentals. Dexter's collaborative, client-focused approach to financial planning, cash flow, and risk management enables people and businesses to achieve their goals and thrive in today's competitive marketplace.

With over three decades in the Power Generation Equipment and Services industry, Dexter recognized that he could apply his organizational and leadership skills and talent to help others plan, build, and protect their legacies. He formed his company, AJPG Group LLC, to educate people about money principles. Dexter recognizes that we face serious financial challenges unless we prepare to live well into our nineties and beyond. He focuses on educating clients to develop better long-term sustainability so that they outlive their money.

Dexter, possessing an analytical mind, has woven his Lean Six Sigma training and experiences into the fabric of his legacy services business, using data to make decisions. He is passionate about helping individuals, families and small to medium businesses (SMBs) solve some of their financial and operational challenges.

Dexter named his business after his maternal grandfather, Arnold Joseph Pantin, Sr. Both his grandparents raised and mentored him. One of Dexter’s biggest desires was to show his appreciation for their love and sacrifice. He is forever grateful, having grown into the person they wanted him to be. He is part of their legacy. And now, he is passionate about inspiring others to do the same… to develop that sense of belonging and being remembered.

Jessica Harman introduced Dexter to Alignable when they worked together as health insurance agents in late 2020. He spent the next year observing and learning how the platform worked. During this time, he made several connections through the platform’s weekly Smart Connects. Networking with other successful entrepreneurs allowed Dexter to assist other owners in tackling issues using proven lean strategies.

Dexter shares his operations background and experiences to build and strengthen relationships. He encourages others to think about their families and make tangible contributions to their future generations. In August 2023, Dexter met Kofi Barkoh at an Alignable Mastermind event in The Woodlands, TX. Kofi was looking for a creative solution to a potential cash flow issue. Kofi was due to deliver a large project in November. Dexter worked with Kofi to identify solutions that offered bridge funding until delivery. Together, they explored and analyzed these potential solutions. In the end, Kofi determined self-funding was his best option. This opportunity to work with a business owner/operator enabled him to serve SMBs.

Dexter has an engaging personality, which he uses to educate potential clients about various wealth-building strategies. Affluent families, like the Rockefellers, have used these strategies to build and grow generational wealth. One of Dexter’s memorable quotes is, “I have a very simple approach. I share information that we were never taught in school and valuable insights gained from various client situations to improve how they manage their money. We have an obligation to teach future generations how to plan, build and protect their legacies.”
