About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Tropical Storm Alberto is Making Its Presence Felt in Southern Texas and Mexico

Residents in South Texas and across Mexico have been hit by Tropical Storm Alberto, this season's first named storm. Bringing heavy rain and major flooding, the storm has caused at least four deaths and extensive property damage. Multiple families lost their homes, and infrastructure and power lines in many cities will need to be repaired.

Texas residents reported wind and water damage, especially in Corpus Christi. The canals on the north side of Padre Island also suffered from the extreme weather. Two people were rescued from stalled vehicles in the flooding, and a downed power line forced morning commuters to reroute.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami downgraded the storm to a tropical depression, with scattered showers still expected across the state. Although all tropical storm warnings have been discontinued for now, Alberto was only the beginning of this hurricane season. This year's tropical storm forecast predicts up to 25 named events, all tropical storms or higher.

Victims of storm damage often have a difficult time recouping their losses. Paying a premium for insurance means one can expect a swift resolution when it's time to cash it in. Unfortunately, that's rarely the case. Insurance companies are known to drag their feet and do anything they can to deny the claim and save themselves money.

Property damage claims are typically resolved out of court, which is cheaper and faster for all parties. However, if an insurance company acts in bad faith, one can take the claim to court for a judge to decide upon. If the insurance company is found to have denied the claim unlawfully, the claimant can recover all losses and then some.

If money is needed from the insurance for property damage, working with an experienced attorney is the best way to resolve the claim quickly and without pushback. The team at Stormlex Law Group is dedicated to advocating for their clients and fighting for their right to insurance money. Whether the property has been damaged in storm Alberto or still waiting on payment from another claim, the Texas storm damage lawyers at Stormlex Law Group attorneys are able to assist.
