About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Two Heartwarming Volumes, One Unforgettable Cockapoo: Amir R. Gill Releases Enchanting Tales of Sky the Cockapoo Series Celebrating Love, Friendship, and Found Family

Author and storyteller Amir R. Gill invites readers young and old to experience the whimsical, wise, and deeply touching world of Sky the Cockapoo in his enchanting two-part children’s series. With the release of Enchanting Tales of Sky the Cockapoo: Volume 1 and Sky Lord Junior: Volume 2, Gill blends humour, imagination, and heartfelt life lessons into a joyful literary journey through the eyes of a clever and kind-hearted pup.

In Volume 1, readers meet Sky as a mischievous, wide-eyed puppy navigating adoption, friendship, and the wonders of a brand-new home. Told from Sky’s perspective, these gentle tales reflect the love between a pet and his owner while introducing a colourful cast of characters—both human and animal—who teach Sky about trust, kindness, and belonging. Through playful encounters with neighbours like Meow the cat, Mr Knight the blackbird, and Robina the robin, Sky learns that family can come in all forms and that love transcends species.

In Volume 2, the story deepens as Sky grows into a thoughtful, emotionally intelligent teen pup. The highlight is an unforgettable birthday celebration that evolves into a ceremonial investiture, where Sky is honoured as Sky Lord Junior—a symbolic title that calls him to be a voice for the voiceless and a champion for all living beings. This second volume adds richness and depth to the narrative, weaving themes of environmental responsibility, leadership, and compassion in a way that is accessible and inspiring for young readers.

Each book is written with lyrical warmth and gentle wit, making them perfect for shared reading, classroom storytelling, or independent exploration. Gill’s unique voice—rooted in his own experiences of grief, healing, and the joyful bond with his dog Sky—shines through in every chapter.

The series stands out for its diverse and inclusive approach to family and friendship, portraying a world where a Cockapoo, a cat, and a robin can not only coexist but thrive together in harmony. These tales offer more than entertainment; they nurture empathy, teach emotional awareness, and model kindness in action.

“I wrote these stories to honour my dog Sky, who helped me through the grief of losing my mother,” says Amir R. Gill. “Through his eyes, I wanted to show children how to see the world with love, curiosity, and compassion—and how to celebrate the people and creatures who make life meaningful.”

Enchanting Tales of Sky the Cockapoo is a celebration of life’s everyday magic: the joy of a new toy, the kindness of neighbours, the strength found in community, and the comfort of a hug from someone who loves you. Together, the volumes offer a complete arc—from puppyhood to purpose—that will resonate with readers for years to come.
