Babak Eftekhari, a former Goldman Sachs FX Derivatives pioneer, joins SEDA as Expert Witness

New York, NY, December 6, 2022 – SEDA Experts LLC, a leading expert witness firm providing world-class financial expert witness services, announced today that Babak Eftekhari joined the firm as Managing Director and Expert Witness.

“We are eager to have Babak aboard and join the high caliber of skill and integrity that we hold at SEDA Experts,” said Peter Selman, Managing Partner and Chairman of SEDA Experts.

Mr. Eftekhari, as former head of European Emerging Markets Trading primarily managed the European local markets foreign exchange and rates businesses at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and prior to that at Goldman Sachs. In addition to his managerial role for the local markets, he had at various times supervisory responsibilities for the cash and structured credit businesses. During his time at Goldman Sachs, he oversaw a large expansion of the local markets business, and in particular the foreign exchange business, from a team of four traders to one of 20 traders, covering a wide range of markets and products.

Mr Eftekhari began his career in 1997 as a developed markets foreign exchange options trader co-managing the Japanese Yen book, before assuming sole responsibility for the European Cross book in London. He subsequently spent a period of time managing the EUR and GBP books in New York, as well as backing up the risk management of the Latin American FX options book. Upon his return to London in 2001, he assumed sole responsibility for European Emerging Markets options book, eventually assuming managerial responsibility for the entire European Emerging Markets foreign exchange until leaving Goldman Sachs in 2013 and the European Emerging Markets rates businesses for a period time. Whilst at Goldman Sachs, he served as a member of the Divisional Risk Committee. Upon leaving Goldman Sachs, Mr Eftekhari was head of European Emerging Markets Trading at Bank of America Merrill Lynch from 2013 to 2016, overseeing a turnaround of the local markets business.

During the last few years, Mr Eftekhari has been involved in various consulting roles related to his career in finance. More recently he spent three years as Chief People Officer and Head of Talent Acquisition at Eisler Capital.
