About Cabling Installation & Maintenance

Our mission: Bringing practical business and technical intelligence to today's structured cabling professionals

For more than 30 years, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has provided useful, practical information to professionals responsible for the specification, design, installation and management of structured cabling systems serving enterprise, data center and other environments. These professionals are challenged to stay informed of constantly evolving standards, system-design and installation approaches, product and system capabilities, technologies, as well as applications that rely on high-performance structured cabling systems. Our editors synthesize these complex issues into multiple information products. This portfolio of information products provides concrete detail that improves the efficiency of day-to-day operations, and equips cabling professionals with the perspective that enables strategic planning for networks’ optimum long-term performance.

Throughout our annual magazine, weekly email newsletters and 24/7/365 website, Cabling Installation & Maintenance digs into the essential topics our audience focuses on.

  • Design, Installation and Testing: We explain the bottom-up design of cabling systems, from case histories of actual projects to solutions for specific problems or aspects of the design process. We also look at specific installations using a case-history approach to highlight challenging problems, solutions and unique features. Additionally, we examine evolving test-and-measurement technologies and techniques designed to address the standards-governed and practical-use performance requirements of cabling systems.
  • Technology: We evaluate product innovations and technology trends as they impact a particular product class through interviews with manufacturers, installers and users, as well as contributed articles from subject-matter experts.
  • Data Center: Cabling Installation & Maintenance takes an in-depth look at design and installation workmanship issues as well as the unique technology being deployed specifically for data centers.
  • Physical Security: Focusing on the areas in which security and IT—and the infrastructure for both—interlock and overlap, we pay specific attention to Internet Protocol’s influence over the development of security applications.
  • Standards: Tracking the activities of North American and international standards-making organizations, we provide updates on specifications that are in-progress, looking forward to how they will affect cabling-system design and installation. We also produce articles explaining the practical aspects of designing and installing cabling systems in accordance with the specifications of established standards.

Collin County Jury Awards Full Medical Bills and $233,000 for Pain and Mental Anguish

Collin County Jury Awards Over $350,000 to Injured Driver After Crash

In a powerful stand for injured Texans, Angel Reyes & Associates secured a $359,199.70 trial victory for a Plano resident who was hit at an intersection in October 2023. The defense claimed the plaintiff failed to prove her case and deserved nothing. A Collin County jury strongly disagreed, awarding over $233,000 in past pain and mental anguish alone.

The verdict represents a stunning rejection of the insurance company’s tactics. Just one day before trial, they made their “best and final” offer, which the jury’s award exceeded by more than three times. With court costs and interest, the total amount will surpass $400,000, demonstrating the value of standing firm against lowball insurance offers.

Insurance Company Denial Meets Texas Determination

The crash occurred at the intersection of Parker and Clark in Plano. The plaintiff was driving through when the defendant made an unprotected turn in front of her.

The defendant accepted fault, but the insurance company refused to fairly compensate the plaintiff. Their offer barely covered the medical expenses, forcing the case to trial where a jury could decide fair compensation.

A Jury That Paid Attention

On June 9, 2025, the case went before a jury in the 493rd Judicial District Court in Collin County. Attorney Alex Ivanov presented the plaintiff’s case with clarity and precision.

The jury returned the following award:

  • $116,640.00 for past physical pain
  • $116,640.00 for past mental anguish
  • $125,919.70 for past medical bills
  • Total Verdict: $359,199.70

“This wasn’t just about past bills, it was about pain, disruption, and dignity. The jury understood that. They weren’t swayed by insurance arguments trying to minimize our client’s injuries,” said Alex Ivanov. “Their decision sends a message: when someone is hurt and stands up for themselves, they deserve to be heard, and compensated.”

The verdict’s impact extends beyond the courtroom numbers. By rejecting the insurance company’s final pre-trial offer and awarding more than triple that amount, the jury validated the plaintiff’s decision to fight for fair compensation rather than accept an inadequate settlement.
